Flying. Do you fear it or love it or neither? I am in awe of aerodynamics. It totally fascinates me. I am always amazed, every time I fly, that I am so far above the earth in that plane and cruising at that altitude and speed. I must admit that crashing does cross my mind each time I fly but I am not 'fearful'....merely conscious of the possibility. I know other that are absolutely terrified each time they fly and yet others that are so fearful they refuse to fly. I have the same thoughts regarding ships. They amaze me too. Such weight cruising around on the ocean. I do tremendously enjoy this activity as well. Perhaps I am simply easily impressed. :D So how about you? Do you love it or does the thought of flying just freak you out? Maybe somewhere in between? Any really scary experiences you have experienced? Regale us! Tell it all! ;) |
I am terrifed to fly. I have never been in a plane or helicopter. I am afraid of heights so I prefer to stay on the ground! |
I love flying. I get a little anxious at take off but then I am fine. One of the favorite things I have done is take a helecopter ride. That is fun |
I love, love, love flying! I've only flown twice- once when I was little from Atlanta to Nashville *i had family that worked for the airline and they just wanted me to experience flying, so mom dropped me off in atlanta and drove to nashville* The last time was back in April when I flew out to see my boyfriend in Idaho. I loved it! I was on the plane pretty much the entire day.. i flew from savannah, to atlanta, to NYC, to Minneappolis, to Boise.. the back again a week later! i had a blast. I would LOVE a job where I could fly to different cities all the time! |
I have a fear of flying but after a few times, I conquered the fear. It is more to knowing the possibility that might happen with flying and I need to fly anyways to go home to visit my family and to then come back here to be with my husband lol. |
I have a fear of flying coach.:p Unfortunately I haven't managed to convince my husband that is it cruel to ask me to and so when I find myself in the terrifying position that is coach, alcohol is very helpful.:D ETA- Oddly enough I suffer no fear in first class where the alcohol is free. Perfect irony! |
I really hate heights..I haven't flown since i was a child! probably 22 years ago! My parents now live in spain so i will be planning a visit at some point..we may have to go by ferry!:p I would also want to be taking Pixie with me. |
I don't love it and I don't hate it. It is just a means of travel to me. I've been on so many plane rides...too many to count. Large planes to Europe, smaller ones locally and those that cross our country. I have many friends and a brother that have private planes and BOY let me tell you....once you fly private....you don't ever want to fly commercial again. You get very spoiled not dealing with all the crowds and the security and being able to pack whatever you want. That's what I love about flying.....PRIVATE PLANES!:thumbup::thumbup: |
I love flying....& sailing.....& coasters....but, since I was little I have been the "kid by the window" with constant motion sickness. We had a sailboat and sailed on Lk Michigan every weekend in the summer for 10 years. I spent alot of time looking like Kermit. I would enjoy it more if I didn't get so sick in the car on the way to the airport! |

Can you feel my jealousy?:D I'm about to book a flight to visit my mother in NC and I'll be on commercial coach.:( Life can be really cruel.:p |
I look at it as a convenience. It isn't really a big thrill, but I do like getting to my destination in a timely manner. ;) |

YES!!! I feel your pain! (Ugh.) Hopefully you will get an aisle seat or the Emergency Exit Row....those are the only way I can deal with coach. I freak out if I have to be in the middle especially on those big flights to Europe...a wee bit clostraphobic. |

I use to be terrified of flying now I am so so lol. My first time flying was when I was 15 I flew from Florida to Hawaii to spend time with my dad, i was sooooo scared, I had an anxiety attack it was just horrid. But on my way back I didnt have any, i guess the vacay helped. Than last year for Christmas I flew to Virginia to visit my dad which I was kind of scared on the way back home because of turbulence. All in all I really don't know flying is sort of scary I really only do it if I have too have too lol. Part of the reason is my plane left me in Tennessee and I had to spend the night in a hotel. My first time alone. |
Neither, really. I don't love it (it's such a pain having to get their so early, deal with luggage, etc.) but I LOVE that it means I am going somewhere! :) I don't really have any scary experiences but when we flew home from Disney World on Christmas Eve 2007 and I was SO SICK. I could barely walk! I seriously felt like I was going to die (OK, so I wasn't actually going to- but I felt like it). I didn't know how I was going to do it. We even had to take a taxi last minute so that I wouldn't have to wait in the airport any longer than we had to. We were the last to board. Luckily the plane was very empty and the flight attendant was very nice and catering to me. It was the first (and hopefully last) time I had to use those little bags that they provide.... :p I've had a few experiences were we had to sit on the tarmac for a few hours- that's no fun! |
