My girlfriends son drowned at 21
 

OMG OMG, I am in shock right now.. I am so broken for my friend...her son drowned last night.. found the body today...My girlfriend lives/works in Inuvik, North west territories.. far far north.. Her son was found today dead from drowning last night..she just found out this evening...she cannot get a flight out of there until tomorrow.. she goes from there to Edmonton Alberta and has a 6 hour stop over then flys to Toronto Ontario, has to change planes again for Ottawa Ontario.. then her brother will pick her up and drive three hours to her parents house.. after a short visit.. she has to drive alone then 4.5 hours to where davids body is.. and to make arrangements on Monday..
This is as soon as she can get out.. I feel so helpless right now.. you have no idea... to sit here and not be able to make things happen faster...
I called Kathy.. but she was in bed.. so not I only have yt and right now I cannot go to bed..
Please pray for mary and her other son Steven..he is alone now on a bus to Sudbury.. and this is killing him..

I'm so sorry. Sorry, for you, sorry for the family. I have two boys and I do not know what I'd do if I lost one. What a terrible tragedy.

I am so sorry, it will be difficult, my best GF lost her only grandchild at 3 years old a month ago, it is still so painful. Lots of prayers.

OMG what a horrible tragedy for your friend and her family ! I'm so so sorry....I hate that she has to drive so long alone and I will be praying for her. That's devestating news for any mother but to have such a hard trip on top of it is going to keep her mind reeling....

I am sorry about your GF's loss.. it is so tragic and hard to deal with.


And to all others.. thanks for the condolences, and prayers...My friend arrives here tomorrow morning.. her brother is picking her up to take her home.. it is three hours from us..so we need to talk about us going up there with dogs and puppies in the rv and stay awhile.. she is coming home for two months. We are still not sure where the funeral will be.. as the father lives 4.5hours north of where mary is from.. she wants him home.. not sure what the end result is going to be. I will not know until monday.. so we have a another day to decide what we will do...
It is so upsetting.. I am not even close to help her at this time.. so I am feeling pretty helpless... I know her family well and they are like my own..so I need to be there.. what to do.. puppies, no breeder that I know to leave puppies with.. so they are better off with us in the motorhome..I am so torn apart right now with having the babies. anne

Its hard to understand sometimes how things like this has to happen. So sorry about the friend and will say prayers for them and the family. I hope you can get some rest you will need to support your friend as much as you can. You have to stay tough. We are all here for you if you need to talk.

Oh my gosh. I missed this post. But I saw you make a reference to another loss in your puppy thread so I came to find this. I am so sorry. You must feel like you have been and are torn into several directions. My biggest prayers and hugs to you!!

I thought I had lost a couple of years.. and saw may 23 and thought it said he was 23.. sorry.. he really was 21...downed the 23rd. and I kinda wondered if there was drinking involved.. kids just do not realize and think these things will never happen to them..here is what the papers said..anne

A Levack man who drowned in Mosquito Lake May 23 was not wearing a life jacket, police said.

OPP divers found the body of David Thaddeus White, 21 the day after he was reported missing.

His body was recovered in 2.5 metres of water, police said in a release.

Alcohol is also believed to be a factor in the drowning.

Sudbury OPP officers received a report of a missing fisherman around 12:45 a.m. May 23.

Officers with the OPP marine unit along with the assistance of the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s marine unit attended the scene to conduct a search on the water. An OPP Emergency Response Team was dispatched to begin a ground search of the shore. The OPP helicopter and underwater search & recovery unit also helped in the search. A post mortem was conducted on Monday and the cause of death was confirmed to be a drowning, police said.

A funeral mass for White is scheduled Wednesday morning at St. Stephen the Martyr Church in Dowling.
