Does anyone take online college classes? I'm seriuosly thinking of going to a straight online college as I'm pretty mad at my local on I've been going, long story short. There's a girl here close to my name. actually my sister in law, and she changes majors like we all change shirts and her grades suck bad. After a two hour long pitched battle to fix my grades back 3.5 from 1.2 and get my major back political science. I've decided to change schools. Anyone recomanded a good online school, the nearest college here is a one hour and a half bus ride by greyhound and a trip back daily of $37. round trip. not actaully cheap and the cost for school is quite abit higher. I can't move there as we own our home and my husband aslo goes to the school I'm mad at. I've heard alot of bad things about some schools. Help please. tyty |
Have you checked with the next nearest school to see if they have Internet classes? Most colleges do now. Also you can see a list by googling "online college". Phoenix University is a popular one. Good luck. |
YES! I go to school online at the Academy of Art University. I'm majoring in photography. I would stay away from the University of Phoenix. They are not regionally accredited&that's a very important thing for a school to have because if you take classes there, they will NOT transfer to another college unless the school has regional accreditation. Now, if you wan't to stay at the University of Phoenix¬ go to a different school, then there's no problem, but if you want to transfer courses to a different school, I wouldn't go there. This website is an AWESOME website: Directory of Online Colleges & Universities | EarnMyDegree.com Check it out. They have practically every field you can think of&they show you the schools that offer the field you're looking for. But PLEASE check to see if the school is regionally accredited. Most schools are nationally accredited, but the regional accreditation is the best one&that's the accreditation you want. As for going to school online, I love it! It's so so easy&convenient. I can do it whenever I want. I also have a one year old daughter, a Yorkie puppy, a full grown Chihuahua&a full grown cat, so I have my hands full! Yet, I still have time to go to school online. I'm not going to lie - it IS a lot of work&studying - but it's really worth it&it's perfect for me because we can't afford daycare for my daughter. Plus there's no driving involved so you save a lot of money (&let's face it, these days who doesn't want to save gas money?). I hope I helped you! Good luck in your search for the perfect school for you. -Amy |
I got my master's at UOP online! |
I take online classes, but it is through the community college. I don't go to an actual online school. You have to be careful with the actual online schools because some of them are scams. I would recommend checking with the local college before going to an online school. |
I just would like to say that University of Phoenix IS regionally accredited. My mistake! I was talking to my husband about it&he said that they are, so I'm sorry that I said that they weren't. Still though, he said it's more of a school for personal enrichment or if you want to get ahead with your current job. I guess I'm kind of partial to Academy of Art University, lol. But sheilajom said she got her Master's at UOP, so I'm sure it can be a good school too! -Amy |
The UOP was the first accredited online college! The classes are just like the ones you take if you were to go to class. The only difference is that instead of tests, you do papers, PowerPoint, and projects. I actually think online is harder than in the classroom. I had a friend that was going to college taking the same major as me and she didn't do half the work I had to do! You also need to consider that going online costs more than the traditional way. Most online schools are private. |

Hi I am a student at Kaplan University. You can take it online or go to the physical campus I know the one I might go to instead of going online is in Fort Lauderdale. Online college is fun! It is the same work but you just have to be really motivated! A lot of people think just because you take classes online it is easy but its not. I just started my 5 term and will be graduating soon. I was also invited to an Honor Society. So try Kaplan University Online, I love it so far;) |
me me me! :) I take classes through Everest Online..They are GREAT! |
Hey! I take classes at Kaplan also. I am in my 4th semester there. The site is very easy to menouver and I really enjoy it. I am currently getting my bachelors in legal studies and plan to go on to law school. I have taken classes at Pheonix before and I honestly did not have a good experience. They were not honest with me and I just didnt get a good feeling about them. I would highly recommend Kaplan. Its been great for me! Good luck! :D |
Thanks All, I've been checking the better business bureau and rippoffreport and well UofP dones't have a good rep and nether does Kaplan. I'm more then slightly worried about how there's over 25 reports each about finical aid being messed up and people getting sued over loans and pell grants that were not applied to their education. I'll look into Everest, wvmentor.org says they've got a local campu. and offer the legal studies I want online. |
Crossing fingers here. I applied to Everest College their in my state but a online college. and they offer my degree as a BS not a AS like most schools. Wish me luck. ty |
I do, but they are University of Massachusettes. I live about 15 mins North of the campus but try to take online courses because I hate their parking and its COLD in the winter! I know people in my classes are sometimes from other countries, so you could try to register with them if you are interested! |
