External Hard Drive and Vonage, need help After I installed Vonage, I lost all of my network connections. I have a wireless modem. I have not been able to get my network back up. I just bought a Maxtor Shared II drive, which is supposed to be available on the network to all devices on the network. I followed the install instructions. My device manager lists the new drive but windows and the Maxtor EasyManage program will not recognize the new drive. I have gone so far as to disable all firewalls and enter the appropriate exceptions in the firewall programs. Any suggestions on how to get my network back? I really think this is a Vonage issue more than a Maxtor drive issue. |
sorry I cant help but hopefully someone here can.... |
Is the Maxtor drive connected via USB? To test if it's Vonage that is screwing it all up, you may want to disconnect your computer from the Internet router and then see if the Maxtor drive shows up or not. You may also try to unplug the Maxtor drive, reboot your computer, then plug it back in after the computer reboots. You can also try to unplug your Vonage connection, and see if your network comes back or not. If it does, then it definitely is Vonage that is causing the problem. Vonage tech support should help you through it if they are the problem. Good luck! |

You're welcome, hope it helps. If the Vonage unit is trying to do DHCP, it probably is interfering with your current router's DHCP... |
