I'm almost a Student Teacher....
 
Well. I take my last final at 12:30 today, and I'm so excited. I'm doing my student teaching in the fall. I've jumped through almost all the hoops!! I can't believe I made it, I remember my first year I never thought it would be over. But it's here!

YAY!!!!!!!!

LOL I am a teacher! You spent 4 years to get to be one and you'll spend the next 20 wondering why and complaining about the school system lol!

Well I've been lucky to grow up in the school, 75% of my entire family is a teacher or admin. My dad has been a principal and coach for 25 years, mom works at the school, brother coaches teaches, many many more... But I've heard enough complaining from his teachers, if it ever gets to that point, I'll find something else to do. I can't stand that. They are always talking about how horrible the kids are in the lounge, finally I said, "THEN QUIT! Do something you love, there is no reason to be unhappy." and... I believe that with my whole heart.

But. What grade do you teach? I think I could be a lifetime college student if someone else would pay my tuition, it's getting out of hand. I love learning new things!

It's easy to say that when you have never taught! You will figure it all out after you get your first job and see all the things that you would like to change but can't! When you have a job that you do as a passion all things that are wrong bother you. If they don't bother you, then you should wonder if it's the right job or not! It's not about quitting because that changes nothing that is wrong. People usually complain for a reason, the reasons should be taken seriously. Too many principals don't care!

I guess it's a good thing my dad isn't like that. Yes, I've seen people like that. But if I get to the point where I'm grumpy all the time, then I think it's time to find something else to do. That's how I've always felt.

I know I don't have the 'experience' yet, I just don't think people should be so miserable to the point that they hate every single thing about their job including the kids. My dad has always said, if it gets to the point where it isn't fun, find something that is. I have to agree.

That's true, but most teachers have problems with the following things (that are things that should be fought for to change):

1. too much state testing
2. principals not being supportive of teachers
3. kids not being disciplined
4. school rules not being followed
5. some teachers do their jobs while others are allowed to do as they wish
6. parents running the school
7. money spent on things that aren't needed
8. too much responsibility being placed on teachers without giving additional help
9. No Child Left Behind
10. not enough focus on alternate subjects ie... art, music, drama, languages
