Update on my MomsHeartAttack Thank You for all the prayers.Wer'e going to need more! When we got to the hospital yesterday,Drs. said she did NOT have a heart attack.so we thought that was good news. They talked her into the CAT scan.results were not good, she has a anourism-sorry for the spelling- around her heart ,very large, that could burst and kill her at anytime.Surgery for this is very MAJOR, her surviving chances are low from surgery, according to this Dr.but surviving without the surgery is low too. he gave her maybe a few years,IF it doesn't burst.which would kill her, her blood pressure is still above 200,they can't get it down, everytime it starts to go down, they tell her bad news. they still want to do a stress test today.we don't know why they want to put her thru that. I will be talking to 3 Cardioligists this morning. of course they are concerned about her age too -81- she's always been so active and fiesty! why her?? I talked to 1 Dr. yesterday about Bentley coming to see her, he said no. She was going to have a Garage Sale starting tomorrow.our garage is loaded! she wants me to still have it! I don't know.maybe if she stabilizes more, I will for a few hours.don't think so . So please keep the prayers coming ,we need them.We don't know what to do. |
oh honny I am so sorry:( I will keep you in my prayers I cant even imaging how hard this must be for you... |
my prayers are still coming for mom... think possitive |
Oh, you poor thing! That's really a major surgery and I don't know why they'd be doing a stress test on her; that sounds unusual. Is the aneurysm in the top part (ascending) of the aorta or below the heart (descending)? That makes a big difference. Regardless, it's a big surgery for anyone of any age, so my prayers are with your mom. It's a shame she has to go thru this, but even as big of a surgery that it is, it's still something that can be treated. I hope they can get her b/p down though....may God and His angels be watching over you and your mom in these next few days! :hands: |
I am so sorry. I know it's bad, but if she dosen't have the surgery she may get to a point where that won't even be an option. My grandmother passed from one that was 3 feet long went over her shoulder and sugery was not an option. Good Luck, Angie |
Praying for your Mom. |
Prayers for your mother and for your family ....... :heart to |
Sending prayers your way.... |
I am so sorry. My Dad when he was 80 years old went into the er at 6 pm with bad pains luckily a great doctor was on duty and my Mom volunteered in the er so they knew her, and they decided to do a special cat scan and found a large aortic abdominal anyeurism. By 8 pm he was in surgery, My mom called all us kids to come to the hospital, they gave him a 15 % chance of making it through surgery and I am happy to report that he is still with us 8 1/2 years later. He was in the hospital for 2 months but he did very well with the surgery. If your Mom is fesity and active it will help her getthrough this. I will pray your Mom can have a successful outcome. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. By the way my Dad's Blood pressure since the surgery is 120/70. Hang in there. |
Im so sorry! Hang in there, I hope you can get some better answers. My prayers are with you and your mom. |
Michelle, I am praying for your Mom and you as well. |
Oh no :( I'm so sorry!!! You are in my prayers. |
Michelle - I'm so sorry the news isn't better. Adding you and your mom to our prayer list!!!! |
I'm so sorry. I hope that they can correct this. My dad had carotid artery surgery at 90 and came through with flying colors (even though it was very serious and not recommended). I hope they can fix up your mom and make her as good as new. Prayers coming her way. |
I'm sorry to hear that. :( Take Care....all of you. |
I am so sorry to hear your latest news. I will be sending many prayers. My thoughts are with you and your family. Sheilagh |
Michelle and Bentley My goodness, they say god dose'nt give you more than you can handle...but I wish he didn't trust us so much!! I've been thinking of you, reading the posts. I'll send more prayers your way. Take things one day at a time. Maybe there is someone that could do the sale for you, that you trust,or maybe the distraction:confused:might help. Try to hang in there Michelle, your mom's in gods hand and the doctors will try they're best to stabilize her condition. Thank god they found the anurysem before it burst. Take CAre and keep us informed of any changes. I wish I lived closer I'd help out with the garage sale. If you can't do it now maybe when things settle down...hopefully soon. Hugs and kises Melissa |

I'll be praying for your Mom. I'm mad they won't let her see Bentley. That would make her feel better. |
I'm so sorry about the latest news. I will keep you mom in my thoughts and prayer's. |
I thought I'd give a new update,Mom came home a couple days ago.her blood pressure has come down, with alot of new medications! We are still waiting on the surgery. Now we are having insurance problems- what hospital she can go to, etc. what surgeon will do the operation, we thought she had one but he was with the "wrong" hospital. her primary Dr. doesn't seem to concerned,(never has been) she was in the hospital 6 days and never came to see her!! can you believe that! The Drs at the hospital say she needs the surgery NOW, and I can't get her into the primarys office for 2 days. Ohhh I am so upset. |
Not acceptable!! The doctor must have a hospital list. This is staff that rounds for the practice. Some PCPs don't have rounding /hospital rights. Even if they don't they should be communicating with you and your family through them. Waiting for an emergentcare apt 2 days is wrong. Every doctors office has same day apts. I work in a doctors office. It's not like she has a cold, she needs to be cleared for a surgery. :confused:At this point,I would call and speak to the office manager and tell them your situation. Someone dropped the ball with this,if you don't get results...down the road switch doctors,it's never too late. Good luck..It really P@#$ me off when someone puts there issues or needs infront of a pts. Bad Medicine!! |
Keeping your mom and your famly in my prayers . |

Thank you for the update. I am so sorry you are having problems with the doctors. I am continuing to pray for your sweet Mother and I hope you will get a really good, caring doctor for her. When you have problems such as hers, there should be doctors willing to take the "fast track" for treatment, surgery or whatever is required. It is not only dangerous but cruelly stressful for the patient and their families. God bless you all. |
Mickeyb, I'm really sorry about your moms health.....I hope she gets all the help she needs.....she must be so frightened........I had a lot of problems when my dad was in the hospitals.....if your not on the ball constantly pushing nothing seems to get done.....it's terrible when your in an already stressful situation worrying about their health and then you have to constantly have to chase down doctors and demand tests and proper care.....I will be wishing your mom well........ |
I'll be praying for her! |
