Brewing Coffee... With sugar? My mother in law makes it this way and I am trying not to call her to ask her how she does it... I know she adds it to the filter with the coffee grounds I just dont know the exact ratio of how many spoons of sugar...any ideas? |
How sweet do you like it? One or two spoons for each cup you make I guess. Never heard of it this way before. Or guess you could just put some in the bottom of the coffee pot . |
:p We call that "Cajun coffee". We were once invited by a tugboat captain to have breakfast on his boat [we had become friends on the Florida coast]. We met on the boat, very early in the morning, and had the most wonderful breakfast I have ever tasted in my life! He laughed as he served his "Cajun coffee" and explained how it was made. When he buys a new perculator, he immediately throws out the inside parts. You fill it with water, place the grounds along with sugar [to your taste] in the water and boil it on the stove. OMG! It was wonderful! I cannot remember having a more perfect morning ... sipping coffee and watching the sunrise on the beautiful Florida coast! :p I, personally, would bite the bullet and ask my MIL or next time she was making it ... watch her like a hawk and try it when I got home. Good luck and maybe someone here actually knows how to make it. ;) |
Agreed...ask the MIL...then post the answer on here! |

What a picturesque story. Thanks for sharing it. Being a dreaded MIL, I love it when my DIL asks questions, makes me feel good, cause she's about as perfect as they come. |
well I think I will ask next time.. I tell ya I have googled and googled and nothing!! LOL... I will ask let you guys know.. but for now I think I might just experiment and see how that turns out... kinda neat huh,.,:D |
I never heard of such a thing. Personally, I hate sugar in coffee, but I LOVE a dab of real cream.... |

Awww.....you'd be the perfect MIL it sounds like too:). What a sweet thing to say about your DIL! And I agree, I loved the story too:D. I've never heard of putting sugar in the coffee grounds; that's interesting! I wonder how it would work with different kinds of coffee makers ie: French Press, or automatic drip:confused:. I don't drink a lot of coffee (usually 1 cup in the morning) but I really appreciate a great cup of java. My dad grows his own beans and sends them to me, so I'm always trying to find different things to do with them! |
