I am heartbroken...
 

I am so heartbroken. I just found our bunny dead in his cage. He was only
1 1/2 years old and was just fine this morning eating and playing as usual. I am so upset. This is so sudden. I have to tell my daughter. She is going to take this so hard. He lived in her room and she loves him so much.
It will be truly heartbreaking...

I am sorry the bunny died. It's always hard breaking that kind of news

Oh Im so sorry! I had bunnies most of my life... some indoors and some outdoors. I loved them to pieces, but I found their life spans to be so short when they were indoor bunnies. I think the one I had the longest was only 5 years old. :( (((HUGS))) to you and your daughter.

Awww, that is so sad. I had a bunny a while and they do become like part of the family. I hope your daughter is OK. I wonder what happened to the poor baby. I'll be thinking about you and your daughter...

My daughter is devestated by it. His name was Thumper and he was a black lop eared bunny. Very friendly and affectionate. You could carry him all over, clip his nails, he would just hang out with you. He loved to be petted and shown attention. He was just Daisy's size and was not afraid of her at all. She would visit him in my daughter's room and they would hang out together.

I really don't get why he died. I am in shock. He has been fine. No diarhea, not sick. He's been himself, very happy & energetic. Ate well. Santa had brought him a 3 story bunny condo for Xmas...he was very happy.

My daughter was petting him before school. I heard him at about 10 am hopping around his cage. We went out for a couple of hours then came back. We were getting ready to go out again and I peeked into my daughter's room and found him already gone.

We took him to the vet to have him cremated. The vets office said to do a necropsy would be $200 - $1000 and it did not guarantee finding a cause so we decided not to do the necropsy..

I feel so bad he passed away by himself. I should've poked my head in there sooner. :( This is really hard....

I am so sorry for your loss. Please don't blame yourself- I am sure there was nothing you could have done. Bunnies do have such a very short life and it seems their health can be unpredictable. We used to have a dwarf lop eared and my bunny books all said around 5 yrs which is just not long enough. If they lived longer I'd have another in a second. They are so sweet and cuddly. Sending you and your daughter hugs.

I am so sorry that Thumper has gone over Rainbow Bridge. We had a tiny dwarf bunny that lived 13 yrs. Just passed this last summer. A couple other bunnies didn't live very long either. The vet said that bunnies get ear infections very easily and goes almost immediately to their brain because the space between the two is minute.

Awww. SO sorry to hear this. But please don't blame yourself. I doubt there was anything you could have done.

If nothing else, at least he wasn't sick, didn't suffer, and went quickly. And, he had a loving home and family while he was here.:)

I just don't get why he passed away. :confused: I've searched the internet for bunny illnesses and he didn't have the symptoms for any. He had no symptoms. He didn't get into anything either. He was just a happy bunny.

I did read about other people losing their bunnies suddenly with no cause to show. They say it just can happen.

I think we are done with bunnies as pets. Too heartbreaking.

My bunny passes away suddenly too and it was his little heart. Bunnies are very prone to heart attacks. They get spooked easily and can have one. There are other reasons too. I don't know about your bun but whenever I would hold mine, his little heart would always be racing...

It is very heartbreaking, I'm still thinking about you...

Oh, I am so sorry you lost your bunny too. They are so adorable and lovable, it just isn't fair they live such short lives. :(
