should I call/see my dr???? I am 24 weeks pregnant and last night was having what I thought to be braxton hicks contractions. I had them every few minutes and they got to be a bit uncomfortable. not PAINFUL...but a little painful. know what I mean??? I got very little sleep because they persisted all night...and was still having them when I woke up this morning....but have not had any in the last 40 minutes. Should I just wait this out and see if they come back or should I go ahead and call? I don't have any insurance until AFTER tomorrow so I am scared to go in and have a butt load of tests run for nothing....but then again, this is my baby we are talking about. I dunno...what do you think??? |
My guess is that it's OK, but I would most definately call your doctor to get professional advice. I know they will probably want to see you. I have twins and the last part of my pregnancy, I was in the hospital every tuesday evening for about a month and a half. Even if you feel like you're over reacting, it's best to go to the doc. Better safe than sorry. You're probably just fine...but get checked anyway. |
I agree. It's probably nothing but it doesn't hurt to call. I would even tell them the insurance issue so they can take that under consideration. |
The exact thing happened to one of my co-workers four weeks ago. She is due 05/27 but she was actully starting to dilate and was told to stay off her feet as much as possible. This is her first. Today she has been told it can be anytime. So it looks like she is gong early. She is dialted 1 1/2 cm. Try staying off your feet as much as you can. If anything else arrises I would call the doc for sure. Hopefully you can hang in there until your insurance kicks in in a day or two. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. |
I found this site, maybe helpful to you :) Braxton Hicks contractions- Pregnancy forum |

Mandee Just call and Talk to the nurse and ask if they think you should come in. I hope all is ok... I'll keep you in my prayers. |
I would definitely contact at least the Nurse at your Doctor's office if they persist. How is your fluid intake? You may be slightly dehydrated which can bring on contractions. Try to take things easy for a while, rest and drink a few extra ounces of water today... |
i called the dr. and he said that since my insurance will not cover until AFTER the 9th, and I have not had any contractions in a couple of hours, to wait it out and come in when the insurance kicks in. BUT if they start up again...I need to come in right away. and if it is after hours (they close at noon today) that I need to go to the ER. so...we will wait it out. I am laying on the couch, feet propped up, and drinking lots of water. so hopefully we can stay safe and not have any issues. I'll keep you posted!!!!! |
Hope all goes well for you. It is always best to call for you never know Braxtons hicks are very common and can be quite painful at times. I was dialated to 4 a month and a half before Ethan was born and sat on 4 for 3 weeks:( He was early but all my boys were |
