I thought I was informed! I'm so glad to have stumped upon this thread! I used to think that the "D" stood for "divorced" but I figured out that the "H" meant "husband". The "BIL" thing had me confused as well and I, too assumed they were talking about a guy named "Bill"!!!! ROFL :D LOL! So what does DL stand for? Dear, Darling or Damn Lover? Landlord???? Serioulsy, I'm not even kidding! :p DH= husband! BIL= brother in law! SIL= sister in law??? DS=son??? DD=daughter??? Is there a DY???? For Dear, Darling or Damn Yorkie, depending if Fido is being adorable or peeing on the carpet again!? Jeez, this PMF feels old now! (Prey Model Feeder, lol) Nadia |

Okay, here's where it gets tricky.:D SIL can mean sister in law, but it can also be son in law. I don't think I've ever seen a DY. We can't forget FIL (father in law). And, I don't know what DL is....but, there's a DIL which is daughter in law. |
I always thought it meant Dear Husband or Darling Husband, but someone told me recently she meant it as Dear Heart. I have no idea what Dear Heart means. I think she meant her child. |
What is DL????? All of this sure is tricky!!! :lol tears I chat with friends through IM regularly, but never seen or used those abbreviations before I've read them here.... Oh boy, I'm also thinking about those ominous text messages that take several minutes to decipher in most cases. My DH (lol) once sent me a text that said BHS and I had to call him because I wanted to know why and what High School he was referring to. Well, it means; Be Home Soon!!! I'm pretty sure I've seen the DL being used, but I just can't figure out what that means!!!! Now I know how my mother (DM???) must feel when my son talks to her about mega pixels, lol. Quote:
