Anyone watch SF Animal Police Last Night? Am I the only one who was disturbed about them putting that dog to sleep? I can't get it out of my mind because Kalina jumps around just like that on a leash when another dog goes by and all she really wants to do is play. Is that aggression? I could understand putting the dog in a home with a lot of property and adults to train it, but to PTS? And why couldn't they give that lady back the other dog? She clearly loved those dogs - maybe a little too much (since she didn't really try to train them properly), but she did love them. And the snakes. I understand them taking the snakes since they were illegal in SF, but why couldn't they give him back his $60,000 worth of snakes when he was willing to (and in fact did) move to another city that allowed them? I don't think that's right either. They could have just fined him and charged him for caring for the snakes until he moved. I wonder what they did with the snakes. I just don't like the holier-than-thou attitude I see on some of those shows - people coerced into giving up their animals when all it would take is some education. Just my opinion. :) |

I try not to watch those shows too often. There have been plenty of times when I have seen a dog PTS, the ones I have seen they usually make that decision when they are doing the tests on them to see if they are food aggressive. It really makes no sense to me, if the poor dog has been neglected & starved then darn right they are gonna want to fight for their food when someone puts a rubber hand in the bowl! I think with those they should put them in a home with no other animals or kids, not just give up on them and put them down. I end up either being really mad or crying anytime I watch any of those animal police shows. |
I didnt catch that ep... However, I do watch the show now & again. I dont mind watching it because it really does help educate us all. There are so many animals in living in different conditions. It makes me, as a pet owner; want to do all I can for my pet & any others I might be able to help as well. Ive seen that hollier-than-thou attitude you've mentioned and thats unfortunate.... but then again, if they were too laxed about some of these cases, we'd probably be just as upset... so I guess thats a catch 22 :) |
What really bothers me is they leave notes on doors when an animal is clearly suffering - I know they have to follow procedure but I don't know how they can walk away in some cases....They do a great neverending job and we need MORE Animal cops but unfortunatly when real crime is on the rise I don't see that happening anytime soon - Houston has a great department - I had to call/email them about this poor dog in my neighbors yard that was in horrible pain suffering in the heat and they came right out - but I climbed my fence and took LOTS of pictures - they said it makes alot of difference when they can see what condition the dog is in :( |
I watched it last night... I was shocked they put "hacinto" i think that was his name down. He wasn't even growling when he was jumping towards the joggers. |
