My daughter just did the "Relay For Life" in Lawrence, KS this Friday night---6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. She was a team captain so she had to stay there all night. Her team raised around $2,200 and place third. The entire Relay raised around $35,000. Meg said to stay awake she walked, and ended up walking around 9 miles. Went to see her yesterday and she was so sore she could barely walk down Mass Street. Couldn't even keep up with her old parental figures.:D Cancer fund raising is close to my heart. My father died 2 yrs. ago from cancer. He had been afraid of it all his life because he watched his father die of bone cancer. In the ended his fears came true. My Mom says he wished it upon himself. |
I did Relay for Life a few years ago with my school. It was a club in our school called Youth RISE. The best part was the event was held on our football feild so we knew where everything was. We stayed the night in a tent. It was cold but fun. I can't remember how much we made though, but I know we made a lot because the next school day our advisor took us all out of classes for the whole day to celebrate. We only did Relay for Life once though, but it was a lot of fun. |
