The rain came early this morning. The track is still mud from yesterdays rain, tho. |
My Husband is watching it on tv |
I am watching too...not betting...just watching!!! |
How absolutely heart breaking! |
Not a race fan and don't bet, but did watch. Big Brown ran a perfect race and won, as expected. So very sad about the filly. I would like to see some laws enforced about how old a horse has to be before it is raced. They seem to be pushed too much at a young age. Don't think I'll ever watch another race. Not much hope of getting racing stopped. Too much big money involved. My heart is hurting for that young filly. |
Its sad that they race the crap out of such young horses. But its not cost effective to keep them until 5 and 6 years of age. As usual, its all about the $$$$$. That is just so sad about that filly. |
You would think in this day and age and with the huge money in horseracing and advances in medical technology, they'd be able to ascertain the bone density or whatever it takes to be sure that a horse is actually ready, physically, to race. There should be mobile scanners that do that sort of thing so these incidents would be at least, far less, if not eliminated. It's really heartbreaking and I feel sorry for the owners and trainers too; they certainly love their horses, but in the end, it is all about money. Very sad. :( |
