Anyone Taking Synthroid?? I was recently put on a low dose of generic Synthroid and boy, I've felt so nauseous! And I have awful acid reflux. And nervous! Anybody else have these side effects? Thanks for your responses. |
I am on Synthroid, 50..along with a few other meds....are you on anything else? |

Lexapro and I didn't get along! I don't remember getting nausiated with the Synthroid. It should pass as your body gets used to it. What is the strength? I think 25 is the lowest...if it doesn't pass by the time you go back for your checkup there is many other ones you can try. I personally think its a pain in the rump to take and then have to wait to eat. Hate that! |
I do have the acid reflux..but to be honest, I am never sure which medication could be causing it. I just had to have more bloodwork done. Its just neverending...now I am looking at Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome. Crazy! |
Ive been taking sythroid for many years and never had any side affects at all, I'd call your doctor and ask them if that is normal to have those effects. Im not aware of sythroid having that sort of reaction. |
I'm on Synthroid and take 125 and I've never had any issues other then when I was on 150 it made me feel on edge but that's because it was too much. If you keep having the same symptoms discuss it with your doctor. Could be something all together unrelated. Good luck figuring it out. |
I have been on synthroid for years and have never had any problems. Maybe it is something else causing the nausea. Good luck. |
I too have been on Synthroid for years. When the generic came out for Snythroid, my husband's insurance company would no longer pay for Synthroid, I had to get the generic version Levothyroxin. I take a 75 mcg tablet. When I switched to the generic, at lst I was more tired and just didn't feel the same as I did on the Snythroid. But I stuck it out and now it's fine. Maybe you should ask your Dr. if he has samples of Synthroid instead of the generic. It might make a difference. I know my sister takes generic Snythroid also and she's had to have the dosage changed a lot of times cause she has different symptoms, mostly tiredness and heart palpitations. I'd go back to your Dr. and let him know how you've been feeling. Sounds to me like your not on the right dosage. "Good Luck" :goodluck: |
I am on 175mg of synthroid and I do not have any of those symptoms you are having. |
Thanks everyone. Now I'm scared I'm dying! |
Ah.....Betty's Mom, I think they just need to get your dosage regulated. Then you'll be just fine. Hugs to you. :love-hug3 |
Don't worry, Betty's Mom...... everyone reacts differently to meds!! I am taking 150's - Synthroid. I have had part of my thyroid removed. It took me several YEARS to get on the right dose..... my levels kept going up and down. I had some dizziness and also was so tired that I would get home from work and collapse on the couch until it was time to go to bed. After being on it for awhile, I also found out that my blood pressure had slowly increased...... not sure if it was due to age, heredity, or having metabolism probs due to hypothyroidism. Go back to the doc.... you may want to see an endocronologist ..... and have your blood work done frequently until you KNOW that you are on the correct dose. I also had issues with the generic meds..... and take nothing but synthroid. It has helped. Good Luck to you....... havng thyroid probs is no picnic.... but with good med regulation, you will do fine!!! Hugs! |
Thank you. I am a world-class hypochondriac. I'm scared to death of illness and I have so many things wrong with me. It's so tiring. |
I'm on .88 Synthroid and don't have nausea. I asked my Dr. about going on the generic, and she said it wouldn't work as well. |
