A bomb at my school today!!
 

This is from an email I received today.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. today an instructor at The Illinois Institute
of Art - Chicago informed college personnel that he had found writing in
a fifth floor bathroom at our Loop Campus at 180 N. Wabash stating there
was a bomb in the building.

The College immediately contacted the Chicago Police Department. Even
though the police did not find anything suspicious, because the safety
of our students, faculty and staff is paramount, we have decided to
close the college for the day.

All classes will resume Wednesday, April 30.



This is just part of the email. I go to school on Mondays and Wednesdays. My classes are of course on the 5th floor of the Loop Campus.:mad:

This makes me freakin' scared to death because my school is in downtown Chicago. Anybody can walk in and do whatever. Theres not any security and my school is mingled in with other businesses. In February Northern Illinois University also had a school shooting.

I seriously don't feel comfortable going to class tomorrow, but I'm afraid I'll get in major trouble if I don't. Its midterm week, so I have tests tomorrow.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! Sorry just had to rant about this.:mad::mad::mad:

That's really scary. Please stay safe at school tomorrow. I hope this was a prank and not real.

I work at a college and I understand your fear very well. I'm sorry you are going through this but it sounds like your school is following a protocol very well, no doubt set in place after VA Tech as most colleges did.

I'm a teacher and if I were to receive an email from a student after an event like this stating they did not feel comfortable I would be very accomodating. Is that an option for you?

The teacher probably would understand, but the school wouldn't. I go to a private school and the attendance policy is super strict. The only way I would be excused for tomorrow is if they actually found a bomb. The attendance policy is so ridiculous.

I'm sorry, I know how awful it is to be scared to go to work and/or school. Stay safe tomorrow and be hyper aware of your surroundings and the people around you.

As said before, I would think security would definitely be tightened tomorrow because of this. Unfortunately for you it is such a crucial time in the semester. Just be safe tomorrow and I'm sure it will all be fine.

Thanks everyone!!:) They better increase the security tomorrow! I have pepper spray, but I dont think that will help much if a bomb goes off.:p

I know the situation isn't funny but that made me laugh out loud.
