Im so frustrated Ive been walking on a treadmill, doing pilates, and doing sit ups for about 3 weeks hoping to tone my body and hopefully lose 15 to 20 lbs. I got on the scales and I gained 3 lbs. I just know I am going to have to go on a diet and I dont want to. I barely eat only once a day but I drink the sodas and I know I am going to have to give those up. I just quit smoking awhile back so I am not good at withholding from myself right now. Thanks for listening if anyone has any good diet tips I would love to hear them. I think i am going to go read the weight watchers thread |
You are building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. You are probably in better shape than before as your muscles are getting toned. Keep at it. Don't give up. The weight loss will come. |
Hi, I'm sorry your feeling bad. I'm not the best one to give advice about this. However, since you've been working out maybe you gained muscle. My sister was complaining about this one time. She looked great and freaked when the scale showed she actually gained. It was all muscle and she got her tone body back that she was working so hard for. :p If I remember correctly she measured differen't parts of her body and she definately lost inches. Maybe you could try this instead of going off of what the scale says. Good Luck!! :) |
Oops, just realized Little Bit pretty much said the same thing. |
Weight Watchers has been a miracle for me. I've tried every diet known to man. I didn't think I could ever lose any weight anymore. But I started Weight Watchers online in January and have lost 23 lbs so far!! It's so easy. My life savor is baked potatoes (with just a little margarine or low fat/fat free sour cream). One can keep me filled up most of the day & they are on weight watchers. I guess I just needed the guidelines it gives. Otherwise I just ate til I was full before. LOL. :) I'm truly stunned how well WW is working...(I shouldn't have said that, now I probably cursed myself . :)) |

I agree with everyone else, you are doing muscle-building and toning work so you will see weight gain. Also, you 'have' to eat more than once a day - you are starving your muscles! If you continue your workouts and have 3 - 4 small meals a day you will see a difference much more quickly. Hang in there! |
your probably not eating enough either... To make sure you wake up your metabolism, remember to eat breakfast every day. This is a great way to ensure your metabolism gets off to an early start. When you're asleep, your metabolism goes into slowdown mode — by eating breakfast you let your body know that you are up and moving. If you wait to eat breakfast, your body stays in hibernation mode a few hours longer. Also, people who skip breakfast tend to eat more calories throughout the day. My mom would 'snack' on things in between meals. But good things, to keep her metabolism going. Water is also very important. Pop has so many empty calories, but it sounds like you are working on that already. |

I know how you feel. I have been working out, doing strength classes 2-3 times a week and treadmill 2-3 days a week for a year and 7 months and have gained 2 lbs. I definately am more toned but my clothes don't fit any better!!! I do drink 2-3 regular cokes a dat and I love my chocolate but I am not a big eater. I just think it is my age and at least I am healthier if not thinner!!! Try varing your workout too. |
The other posts are right. You need to make sure you eat so your body does not go into starvation mode. Breaksfast is very important. Read the packages for serving size information and measure/weigh the food you eat. For example, on serving size of cereal is usually 3/4 to 1 cup. However, if you just pour it into the bowl you most likely are going to eat more than the serving size, thus more calories. This is the same for other foods. Also, it is a great idea to cut back on the soda. It is just alot of empty calories. Replace it with water but don't deprive yourself totally if you crave it. Start by cutting back and take it from there. Best of luck!:) |
Two words for you! WEIGHT WATCHERS! It works!!! I used it after the birth of my first born & went down to a 126 lb size 6 (I'm 5 ft. 7 inches), as well as after the birth of my second child & got back down to a 135 lb size 8 (down from the 200 lbs I was at full term). It's TOO easy, you aren't depriving yourself from anything you love & it works! It definitely gets my vote! |
