Non-Stick cookware Is there such a thing? Really? I have tried the better brands, the lower line of calphalon etc. and food still sticks to the non-stick cookware. Have any of you found a pan that will cook a skinless chicken breast without it sticking? I use a cooking spray and plastic utensils now but food still sticks. Please recommend a brand and a model. I am willing to invest $$$$ in one very good pan if food won't stick to it. |
I don't use the kind that have any coating but the pans I've got are analon (stainless I think) and stuff doesn't usually stick to them and even if it does, it comes right off when I soak them for a bit. I won't use teflon or any of the synthetic coatings in my house. |

Oops...the analon are the ones I don't use....they were pretty nice, but I was usuing one of the grill pans (HIGH heat) and was heating it up and in the other room when one of the rivets popped off and went zinging past my head:eek:. It scared the crap out of me and would have really injured me if it had hit me. Anyhow, this is similar to the set I had: Macy*s - Kitchen - Anolon Ovation 10-Piece Cookware Set Nothing ever stuck to them. I have another set now that's all metal (of some sort) and hardly anything sticks to them either...if it does, it comes right off when you rinse them....I'll see if I can see what they are. |
this brand is awesome and the price you can't beat it... Welcome to TRAMONTINA |
I got my set from Costco, I don't remember the brand and they are awesome. I have no issues. If something is a little stuck, I just soak it and voila, comes right off. |
We use teflon coated pans to make eggs, thats about it. Just buy a cheapo one and replace it often. Wearever works well. I have a Rachael Ray one right now. Otherwise we use stainless now. I had Calphalon One and I HATED it. I felt bad replacing it too because it was so expensive, but I really hated it. I love my new RR stainless pans. Why don't you get a really good cast iron pan? After those get seasoned they are truly non-stick. |
I have copper clad Revere Ware and I love it. It cleans up very easily. I will admit that fried chicken will stick if you don't watch it carefully. But it cleans up with no problem if it does stick. |
Oh yeah, if anything does stick and you don't feel like dealing with soaking a pan, just deglaze it. Turn the heat up and then dump in water (or wine or stock if it's chicken/steak and you want to make a sauce) and let it bubble up while you scrape the bottom. Much faster than soaking :) |
Is cooking with teflon bad or something. I have never heard anything on this? |

Once one ingests Teflon, it doesn't leave your body. It's also deadly to pet birds. |
My step father works at BB&B and my mom and him were able to get some great prices on Caphalon. So needlesstosay Im fully loaded with it. Its all I use. I LOVE it! I have no problems with sticking food, even rice and stuff that usually sticks does not stick. I could wipe all my pans with a paper towel and they would wipe clean lol Im sorry you did not find caphalon to be like that for you. funny thing about my pots & pans, they are probably worth about $1500 right? And all my friends (even family too) laugh bc I am sooo not known to be any kind of cook AT ALL! I hate to cook actually! yet I have pots & pans most my friends would give their left leg for! haha |
I use stainless steel. You might want to lower the flame some. |

I love my pampered chef pans. Nothing sticks, they clean up so nicely and they don't flake or anything. I've had them for 2 years. |

Cast iron pans-------you know like mom & gram had when we were kids. I love them, when properly seasoned they are THE non=stick pan like no other. You can use a lower temp as they distribute the heat so evenly and things cook so differently in them. Eggs for instance, so fluffy and tender. I couldn't figure out why I could never cook eggs like my mom's. Now I can and I do. They last for ever and can be picked up on the cheap from yard sales and thrift shops. |
I double checked and most of the pans I have are ProLine. I got them at Macy's when they were The Bon, not cheap in price. Has anyone tried the Emeril cookware? Consumer reports rates fairly high, just behind Analon. FYI, the Kirkland brand at Costco is rated the best buy. |

I've also heard of the fumes killing a person. I'm not sure if it was ever validated, but that's what they thought had happened. Edit to say: it wasn't just normal cooking in the pans; it's when they're overheated. |

QVC has good nonstick pans called cooks esentials. They used to be teflon but now it s another type of nonstick surface that doent give off fumes and is safe for bird owners |

We have Emerilware & we LOVE them. We've had our set since 2005. No problems, whatsoever! It's the All Clad quality at a fantastic bargain! OP -- are you putting them in the dishwasher or using spray butter in them? Doing either can ruin the finish & cause them to stick. There are a few other things, as well, that ruin the finish. Something about tomato sauce & salt. |

Hi Gracie! I just did a google search for an article for reference & saw that some places didn't mention it as bad for the pans. However, I've always been told to use oil as opposed to cooking spray & the literature that came with our Emerilware explicitly said not to use cooking spray. I'm not sure why some places mention it and others don't. Maybe there's some sort of subtle differences in pans? In any case, here are some links: Ehow - How to care for Non-stick cookware All about nonstick cookwares..... 10 ways to ruin a nonstick pan (about.com) I don't remember where I read about the tomato sauce ruining the finish. It's been a few years -- but it was something I came across when I was researching nonstick pans for my hubby for his Christmas present. We've had our Emerilware since 2005 & haven't had any problems with tomato sauce, though - so take that part for what it's worth. Maybe it has to do with rapidly heating it? IDK? |

Got the Analon I ended up with the Analon Deluxe. I got it at B B & B. They had a great sale. I got 14 pieces for under $400. I did stir fry tonight and nothing stuck to it. I read the directions. It did say to use low to medium heat, and NO cooking spray, and very little if any oil. They said that oil and sprays put a coating on top of the coating that is on the pan, making it lose its no-stick quality. Anyway, I love these pans. They are not quite as heavy as the Calphalon Contemporary, which I also pondered deeply over. Thanks for your help and suggestions. |
This is my southern side coming out... but 99% of the time the only cookware I use is my cast iron skillet. It always cooks my stuff perfectly. :) |
