You know, I didn't need convincing that YT is THE BEST! But if I did, the response to this thread would have been more than enough. Thanks, guys. Between your outpouring of support -- and my most excellent friend Chele from my high school circle -- I made it through today. Now, to get through tomorrow ... I unhunched my shoulders, screwed my head back on straight and took a deep breath. I really don't scare easy so this is a rarity for me. It's not a feeling I'm accustomed to or very comfortable with. So, I truly appreciate all your prayers, thoughts, and kind words. And I promise, as soon as I know anything, I'll be updating. |

The long and short of it ---UPDATE Is that I know only a little more than I did this morning. He checked her out fairly thoroughly, looked at the mole and said it "doesn't appear squamous." Unfortunately, that' s the best kind to treat. So it's likely melanoma. He did say that even if it is melanoma, it can be removed and because it has only been a few months that it has been changing, that it might not have spread. (They like to attack lymph nodes and organs if they're allowed to go untreated.) She got a referral to a dermatologist and has an appt. now for next Monday (the 28th) at 10 with him. She'll need to get blood work done which I had hoped we'd get today, but no dice. (Requires fasting, so probably next week.) Usually, though not always, the bloodwork will show something weird if it's cancerous. So, please keep praying … Thanks again for all your support! April is going to be a looooong month. |
Thanks for the update. I know it doesn't sound like good news, but now that it's being looked at and discussed, things are definitely looking up. I will continue to keep you both in my prayers and sending positive thoughts. I'm proud of you both for facing this head on. |

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the support ... especially after someone (not on YT) had the audacity to imply that just because I'm 42, it was ridiculous to be frightened over something ailing my mother -- even if it IS serious.:mad: Meaning, that just because I'm grown, I no longer have a right to be afraid to lose my mother! OH was I livid. I may never speak to this person again. Of course I'm fearful and concerned! Boy, what a sh*t I would be if I were not. My mom is my immediate family -- and I am hers. That's it. While there are a few assorted cousins, and we're both blessed with friends that are often better than family, there isn't anyone else. And this is my mom. My mom who pretty much raised me on her own when she could easily gone off and just did what she wanted to like my dad did. Was that ever the wrong thing to say to me!:D |

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's health problem.....Let's keep up the good thoughts for her .... It's to bad there are insensitive people that choose a time like this to open their mouths....some people need a filter implanted between their brains and mouths... Just focus on mom and stay positive for her, that's where your energy needs to be now :rose40:....I'll be wishing her well....... |
