I could use opinions!! Sorry kinda long OK here goes, I am thinking of starting my own business and I wonder what you all think of it. I want to open a coffee cottage/bistro with a twist....it will be very cute kinda shabby chic, cottage-y feeling with tables outside and a garden with a grass area under big trees with a white picket fence for doggie socials. It will have sandwiches, soups, salads and of coz DESSERTS! All homemade. It will also have tons of treats and foodies for dogs and cats of all kinds. Very pet friendly. Acutally pets r encouraged to bring their moms & dads and everyone they love. I will have many diff kinds of coffees and teas, hot & cold as well as lots of other goodies. there will be socials every 2 weeks and diff raffles and contests. Also a dog of the week board and they get free treats all week and mom or dad free coffee too. I will have a lil kitchy boutique with all the latest must haves for our pups. Its only in the planning stages, but what do you all think so far? Oh yea, my vet will be on hand 2x a month for question and answer session and playtime as he has 17 dogs! |
Wow! I think that's a really cool idea. :D  My only concern would be checking into the health certificate rules and regs. You would need to research that carefully. Very cool idea! |
what do i think??? i think you should come to north jersey to start your business! sounds like a awesome place to go |
I think that sounds like a great idea! I actually thought it would be cool to do something like that last year but of course I'm nowhere near able to do anything like that at this point in my life. But I think a place like that would be so much fun to go to. Desserts and Dogs!! Two of my favorite things! It probably will be difficult to work out all the health regulations but I think in Florida it's a lot more lax than other states so I'm sure you could get it figure out. |
sounds wonderful! Where will you be located in Florida? My parents are in Sarasota |
we frequent the sunshine state. go for it. florida has many small dogs that would enjoy this place. |
awww thanks for the support guys! Im really excited about it...next will be what to call it!!?? It will be near Ft Lauderdale somewhere, but yanno, its funny I see that you are in Iowa and thats where my hubbys family is from!! Hes up there as we speak near Ottumwa. Maybe Ill do a raffle on here for a name...lol :p |
I think that sounds like a great idea!! Good luck! |
My mom and dad live in Florida. I will go to your coffee shop when it is open. Of course, I'll bring Conner. |
hes so cute, hed deffo be up for DOG OF THE WEEK!!! Thanks for the support, as its a really big decision and Im a lil scared but I dont know, in my heart, I just know it would be great. |
It sounds awesome. I'd love to start my own cupcake business in my small hometown but owning your own business is rough. I know because hubby has one and the paperwork alone drives me batty. |
What a super idea, I love it. I hope the zoning, licensing and everything works out. We could use something like that around here. The closest dog park is over an hour away. Best of luck on your venture. |
I love it! Where in FL are you? If you're anywhere near me (Melbourne), I'll be a regular!:) |
go for it! I had a little cafe at one time. The profit on coffee and coffee drinks is excellent. Get a nice espresso machine, and you'll be set. Keep in mind that you will want to appeal to everyone, not just dog lovers. I think I would have an area where pets are not allowed. I'll be thinking of names for your biz. |
I think it sounds like a brilliant idea! You should also have an area where its just people, no pets, because I'm sure there will be people who will be interested in coming, but may be afraid of/allergic to/just not like dogs. and you want your cafe to be open to everyone. Best of luck to you! GO FOR IT!! |
