Big Big Big Question If someone has 3 sons and she wants to have a baby girl next, is this possible? I mean is it possible to choose the sex of the baby? Can someone suggest any sites? Is this done in the US or anywhere ealse? I am not asking for me, don't worry...LOL I just had one.:) :) :) |
The Lord up above handles that one.......I pray that's the way it stays. She can pray & leave it in the Lord's hands.:) My priority, personally, would pray for the baby to be "healthy". |

I bought a book by dr. shettles, I don't know if we will try again but if we do i will be trying his method |
I know exactly what you mean. When I was pregant, I always looked at little boy outfits.....well, I had a girl, a beautiful baby girl! The Lord knew what he was doing. Wouldn't have changed it for the world!! She has truly been my blessing! Good Luck to your friend! |
In my biology class we learned theres a thing called a Cytometer that sorts sperm cells by size. The smaller ones carry male chromosomes and the larger ones carry female so that can greatly increase chances of one or the other, but don't know where to get it done. |
Thanks everyone, I think she will just need to research more on this |
I have heard of this and researched it....There are ways to increase the chances of conceiving one sex or the other... Timing when you "try" ;) can affect whether the baby will be a boy or a girl...the closer to ovulation, the greater the chance of a boy. The X sperm are slower, but can live longer, while the Y sperm are a little weaker but can swim faster. Also, caffeine intake, the natural chemistry of the woman's body, sperm count, and other factors come into play. This website covers it: http://www.fertilinet.com/sexofbaby.htm |

Ok SO yes you can "choose" the sex of your child but Its VERY expensive and from what i hear can be painful and a long Drawn out procces what they Basically do is collect speciman from the Man then pick out females and then invitro ...Heres The Catch thou Its not 100% and I think they may even scraps the womans eggs to make sure it takes which is painfull plus all the horomones youd be on with that being said I personally think that the sex of a child is in gods hands but yes it can be "medically" done I have 2 Boys and REALLY want a lil girl Im personally going to adopt but not just for the reason that i want a girl we have other resaons but that will be sometime from now but her name is Going to Be Mattie (my dh is Matt) !!!:) |
My daughterJen has 4 boys. Had her tubes tied. Now her and her hubby want to try in vitro with selective sexing....lol I told her she has her hands full with 4 boys!!!:p |

But man 4 boys, no wonder she wants a girl.LOL |
I don't think it is legal in the US yet, except for studies they've done. But there is a gender selection thing where they put a die on the sperm. The x glows brighter than the Y so they seperate it that way. And then they only AI you with the X sperm. It's not 100% but it's usually pretty accurate. I've also wondered if you could do in vitro and choose the sex. You would grow the embryos and maybe it's possible to figure out which ones are XX before you implant them? I've always said if I decided to have a child I'd only want a girl and would seek out gender selction...but I do not want any children. You might look into other countries to have it done if you're really serious about it |
Coming from someone who thought they knew....LOL Well, I had 5 pregnancies...and all five were boys.....miscarried 2, so still ended up with 3 boys... I read about timing, acidity, position, frequency....bla, bla bla....did them all....even hung upside down to aid in the "travel"...LOL...tried, the acidity thing too.....meaning eating acidic foods.....tried less sex, more sex....you name it....I DID IT....but still had boys...!!!! I laugh now cuz I say...the good Lord must have felt I did a really good job at raising boys......or maybe he felt that I did NOT do a great job, and was giving me more opportunities to get it right....LOL... I say, it is luck, but heck, research and trial and error is part of the fun..... Good luck... |
Do a google....lots available There are lots available online...to try.....ya never know... |
I have done some research for my friend and I have found this: PGD FAQ Why would I want to combine MicroSort with PGD? Since PGD is already 100% effective for gender selection, and MicroSort sperm sorting is less effective, at first it doesn't seem to make much sense to use both together. MicroSort can increase your chance of having a successful PGD cycle by increasing the number of embryos of the desired gender to choose from. IVF is not a single procedure, but a process with many steps. At the outset, some number of embryos are fertilized, but at each step, usually some perish and do not survive to the next step. The effect is sometimes called embryo attrition. Here's an example:

20 eggs are retrieved from the mother.
18 eggs fertilize and become embryos.
15 embryos survive 3 days of incubation.
14 embryos appear normal, and undergo embryo biopsy.
13 embryos survive embryo biopsy.
7 embryos are chromosomally normal.
6 are still growing after 2 additional days.
3 embryos (one half) are female, the desired sex.
2 are implanted, and 1 is frozen for a future cycle.
In this cycle, 18 promising embryos attrited to 3 usable embryos. Fortunately, that was just enough to implant 2 embryos, and even freeze 1 for a future cycle. However, in many cases there are fewer embryos to start with, and more perish along the way. Sometimes, at the end of a cycle there are no embryos left of the desired gender, and no embryo transfer can take place. However, if the embryos in this example had been fertilized with MicroSorted sperm, about 90% of the available embryos would have been female, instead of just half. Rather than 3 of 6 female embryos, 5 or even all 6 embryos would be likely to be female. After implanting 2 or 3 embryos, 3 or 4 could be frozen, providing much better odds of a successful future cycle if the current cycle doesn't result in pregnancy. In cases where only a very few embryos remain at the end of the cycle, using MicroSort with PGD can mean the difference between having a few embryos of the desired gender and a successful embryo transfer, or no embryo transfer at all. If this works for her, I would love love love to have it done myself. The website that I got it from is this: http://www.in-gender.com/Gender-Sele...microsort.aspx Can you guys please tell me your oppinion about it? As far as I know it's a clinic in the US that does it.And I have found this method on soooooooooooooooooooo many other websites and they all say the same thing about it. What do ya think? |
yes you can my son and daughter in law have three boys. You can spin sperm. It costs about 700 each time, spins out the sex you dont want then they insert the sperm of the sex you want. She did it 3 times. Didnt take. She was beginning to think something was wrong, then whoops, the natural way, but miscarried. Three months after that she was pregnant again, the natural way, and guess what??????????? I have four grandsons. ha ha ha Oh well I have girl yorkies....................... |
Montel's show airing today is going to cover this topic. If you miss, maybe you'll be able to find it on his website. |
They are discussing MicroSort which you've mentioned above. |
Adoption. :D I'm sure there are ways out there to determine the gender of your baby but I myself really don't know of any. Wishing your friend lots of luck! :p |
The simple answer is yes, you can choose the gender. There are many different methods and some are close to 100% accurate. Some clinics/institutes even offer guarantees that they will continue cycles of treatment until it's successful. The only drawbacks I can think of to note are (1) cost - but it can be covered, at least partially, by insurance & (2) multiples are more likely with some of the procedures. Here's a link with 7 pages of good info. I wish your friend best of luck!! I knew a woman that wanted a girl so badly that she had 7 sons before her body gave out on her (had to have a hysterectomy). That said, I wouldn't leave it up to chance. |
