Best In Show
 
I spent the last two weekends at dog shows but won't get to go to another until next month...so I decided to rent "Best In Show"...I've seen it before and have been wanting to see it again for a while. It is just too funny!!

OMG, lmao... it is tooo funny is it not.. I got it last year for my birthday.. my girlfriend got tired of telling me to buy it.. she got it for me..it is a keeper..

If you look really close, the handler showing the Skye Terrier is the handler I had my Skyes with when they 'MYSTERIOUSLY" were stolen. Its only a quick shot of him.

You had Skyes? We had one briefly. She was a rescue and after having her about six weeks or so one day while we were gone she killed our dachshund!!:( Then she started acting growly with our westie, (which scared us to death) so to avert another tragedy we ended up contacting Skye Rescue and they were able to place her as an only dog.

I am sorry for your loss. Skyes are very a one person, one dog kind of dog. I have one left(my first champion) and he never comes in contact with my Yorkies. I had one litter many years ago and was extremely careful with who they went to. If I didnt have Yorkies, I would only have a Skye. They are loyal almost to a fault!! Most of the time they take quite a while to socialize, much more than most breeds. They end up in rescue because of un-educated owners that dont know how to handle one or think that they are going to be that super out-going, friendly all around dog and they just arent that. They were bred to exterminate vermin and badgers on the Isle of SKye. So the hunting/exterminating skills and instincs are very strong because they have not been over-bred over the years like the "popular" breeds.

A couple of my friends and neighbors know how I am about my dogs and said You just have to rent it. I looked here locally but couldnt find it.
I will just have to buy it...It sounds GREAT :p

What? Your Skyes were with a handler and they were 'mysteriously' stolen? My gosh!:eek: How did that happen?

This happened many years ago. In all this time I will never believe I will ever find out the total truth about this. Supposedly, someone was mad at this handler and while he was at a show showing client dogs, this person paid someone to break into the handlers house and steal some of the dogs. This included my two girls and the sister to my champion that I still have.They have never been found. I do not believe this story to be true as over the years I have heard bits and pieces. Some of the uppity ups in the Skye Terrier Club of America know exactly what happened but will not tell me.Yes, unfortunately, some people involved in Skyes are cut-throats, among other choice words. I have shed many tears and cried many nights over this and still do. The main thing that I hope for is that the girls went to good homes and not to mills.

I must admit, I find this amazing. I mean, I know there are awful people in this world. I have met many of them. I try my best to avoid them. But I have to say...this is beyond my comprehension. It saddens me that people can do the things that they do and it seems to get worse every day. I am sorry you experienced this. It is heartbreaking. I simply am unable to understand such meanness and ugliness.

:cry: This is most definitely a 'crying shame'....

You can rent this on Netflix.

I loved that movie. Are you familiar with the other Christopher Guest films? They use many of the same actors that are in this film. Great ensemble. Here's a clip from Best in Show:

Oh man! I just saw that movie for the first time in Dec! My mom put it on because my fletcher watches tv when there are dogs or any animal for that matter, on it. Well he watched the entire movie sitting on the edge of the couch! LOL He liked it more than any of us did! (and we all liked it!)
