Do you have a theme? Either the same feel as the wedding will have or something completely different. Also, will the shower be for a younger or older crowd? |

Themes are very popular now. I gave a Christmas ornament bridal shower year before last. It was what she wanted. So much Fun! Take a look @this site and think about the bride to be. Ask her what type gifts she would like most, especially if she is having more than one shower. Good Luck! http://www.beau-coup.com/bridal_shower_themes.htm |
Check out www.bridalshower.com They have lots of ideas for themes, favors, games, etc. My best friend is planning a shower for her roommate and she highly recommends this site! |
Do you have to give out party favors? The last shower I planned we ordered small candles from Yankee Candle and the label would say the date and the name of the person the shower is for. They have so many different scents to choose from! Do a wishing well...........those little gadgets are the best! |

a great game (not one of those dumb ones) is Bridal Shower Bingo. You make bingo cards (obsviously each one has to be different) and you fill it with gifts you think she will probably get and the first one to get Bingo wins a prize.. something for people to do when she is openeing gifts. A great theme is time of the day or room of the house. People are given a time or a room and have to buy accordingly! |
from what I have found lately, it is popular to have a "couples" shower, or a "honey-do" for the man... I threw a huge "couples" shower last year for my daughters best friend and we just had one big ole party... their theme was western and we used that as our theme for the shower too... it was very fun and so much less stress for everyone, no structure, just a good time for all! |

Im sorry, I just assumed everyone knew what that was! Its when everyone brings alittle something, like a spatula, wooden spoon, chip clips...........little kitchen items and gadgets. Small things but the things you really need! Some people actually rent a fabric "wishing well" to hold all of these items but others will get a kitchen bucket or basket and put all the items in that! Those items don't get wrapped! I know I have also been to a shower where they did a recipe exchange instead of the wishing well. Every guest brought there favorite recipe and gave it in the card so the new bride would have some yummy meals to make! |

so, do people traditionally not buy the gifts from the gift registry at a bridal shower? I just remember how my shower was and we got tons of gifts from our registry (and some GREAT   ones that were not on our registry) LOL sorry for my ignorance...I'm seriously a virgin at this LOL |

So glad you started this thread! I have to throw a shower closer to fall but its good to get a head start. I think I am going to have a small deli cater deserts and I will make finger sandwiches, and cold salads. (I can't bake to save my life:p ) Pretty much all I have planed is the food! The games are a great idea and I think a theme would be really cool. If your friend is getting married on the beach you could have a "sandals and tank top" only shower. Have little umbrellas in drinks and a fruit bowl. Sorry I am not much help! Good luck Mandee! |

You can get a recipe box and have each person write a fav recipe on it for her... Tell the guest ahead of time so they know what recipe they want to bring. Have some one close to her if they will write who gave what to her so she has a list of gifts and who gave it to her to write thank you cards. |

One game we played at my friend's shower was a "How well do you know your future hubby?" You ask the groom a bunch of questions about himself, his likes, dislikes, etc ahead of time. And then at the shower, you ask the bride those same questions. For every one she gets wrong, she has to chew a piece of bubble gum. That's always a bunch of fun! Also..you can do an interactive game with the guests where you give them all a piece of paper and a pen and have them answer questions about the bride. The one with the most wins a small prize. Ask the guests to email you a couple of their favorite pictures of the bride and make a video montage or a scrapbook with them for her! |

I have a recipe "book" that my family put together for me as a shower present and I love it! Definitely have someone make a gift list because she will be at a loss without it! Also regarding thank you cards; pass the envelopes out to each shower guest and ask them to address them...this will save the bride many headaches and also will ensure every guest will receive a "thank you" card. Themed showers are fun! The tank top and flip flops idea was adorable! |
1 Attachment(s) If you plan a "personal" one, let me know, I have got some great games for that one:D You should make a towel cake for the centerpiece, they are super easy to do! Here is a pic of one that I did... I cant find the others Attachment 207229 |

At my son and DIL's shower, the gift table was decorated with framed pictures of them as children. So cute! Also, since it was a shower, there were children's umbrellas decorated with ribbons and flowers everywhere! It really looked good:) |

Personal Shower.... Drop Your Panties at the Door -- Have each person bring a pair new panties and drop them at the door. Dont let the Bride to Be see..... (I had a bag that I decorated that said - Drop Your Panties Here) Then have a clothesline hung up .... after everyone arrives and a few games are played... take the panties out and hang them on the clothesline. Have the Bride to Be guess which ones were brought by who and for every correct guess she keeps the panties --- of course she keeps all of them at the end:rolleyes: I have pics ... I can email... dont think they are appropriate to post here? Then here is my twist on Pin the Manhood on the man... I get the bride to be to furnish me with a pic of the future hubby.... Blow it up HUGE!!! then take long balloons (one to make animals) and use those with double sided tape! Lots of fun and laughs! |
