Need a button hole for that harness D ring? The one thing I have been afraid to do is sew a button hole. Crazy, right? I have so many cute little shirts and jackets for Gizmo, but he never wears them because they don't have a button hole for the D ring. I just found this great little instructional video on how to sew a button hole. Just thought someone else might be able to benefit from it as well. :0 Happy Sunday! :D |
I never would have thought that! Great post and so helpful... I always wanted to take a sweing class... Maybe some day! |
I'm self-taught...reading...trial and error and now these videos. I've heard Joann's has great classes though. I am having fun and saving a lot of money on simple things. |
Thanks for the post!!!:heart to |
Cool! I think I have a button hole feature on my machine but I'm terrified of ruining something. I will try it on some scrap first. |
without sounding RIDICULOUSLY stupid.... so she does a tight stitch all the way down the long sides.. but what does she do when she wants to do the small part? |
not stupid Marci...I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I think it's a little wider one. Anyone know? |

I think so. I would guess that you could do it any way you want to. |
Thanks much for the post. Just be cautious. I was at the park today, had Gracie in a harness with the D ring on her chest, her coat's button hole on the back was empty. A little boy asked if he could pet Gracie. While petting her, he fumbled with the button hole and said "I should ask my grandma to sew that up for you". :D |
Funny you should post this. When I got Coby's bomber jacket, I was asking about button holes for the d-ring and that was when I learned that you actually sew the button hole first and then cut it!! :embar: I didn't even know that much! :scratchhe |
Thanks for posting this! |
The top and bottom have a wider zig zag, if anyone is doing this buttonhole for the d ring to fit through, please reinforce the stitching by double zig zagging stitching on the both long sides and quite a few times top and bottom. Very important. Great post. Patti and Jack and girls |

Thanks for posting this! I also have a ton of stuff for the boys, but they can't wear them out because there is no hole for the harness. Now I can make button holes! |
***bumping*** too good of post for those that sew....hahaha...not me of course.   |
I can do buttonholes... but now I have my little Cordell and need a pattern for shirts and vests! :) |
