I'm making dinner tonight... And have no idea what to make. I'm not really good in the kitchen, so I need something that isn't too hard to make, and won't take hours to prepare and cook. Does anyone have any good recipes? I want something healthy too. |
Hmmm....well, what do you like, first? Fish, steak, chicken, pasta, pizza..? :) |

Nevermind everyone I think I found what I'm going to make...adobo!!! It's my favorite food! I just gotta make sure I have all the pots and pans. |
Adobo!!!!!! Drool! Just the smell of adobo seasoning makes me crazy. Sometimes, I'll just go in my pantry - open my bag of adobo spice, and take a little whiff - like a bee to honey....:D |

When I read the title of your thread the lst thing that came to my mind was " Can I come over?". :D I don't like to cook. I hope your dinner was very tasy. :) |
Adobo is a Filipino dish, you can use chicken, pork, pretty much whatever meat you want and it's served with rice. It's VERY good, my favorite meal actually! I never made it, I'm hoping it will turn out good! We just decided to have pork instead of chicken. I rarely cook so I'm nervous as to how it'll turn out. Rudy's Mom..it's just me and my fiance, but I think the recipe serves more (and it has garlic so Rocky and Bella can't have any, LOL) so your more than welcome to come over! LOL Here's a recipe maybe it'll describe it better. 8 whole chicken legs (about 4 pounds), cut into drumstick and thigh sections 1 1/2 cups distilled white vinegar 3 garlic cloves, crushed 2 bay leaves 1/2 tablespoon whole black peppercorns, crushed lightly 1 cup water 3/4 cup soy sauce 3 tablespoons vegetable oil Chopped scallions, for garnish Accompaniment: Cooked rice In a large kettle combine the chicken, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, and 1 cup water, bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer it, covered, for 20 minutes. Add the soy sauce and simmer the mixture, covered, for 20 minutes. Transfer the chicken with tongs to a plate and boil the liquid for 10 minutes, or until it is reduced to about 1 cup. Let the sauce cool, remove the bay leaves, and skim the fat from the surface. In a large skillet heat the oil over high heat until it is hot but not smoking and in it saute the chicken, patted dry, in batches, turning it, for 5 minutes, or until it is browned well. Transfer the chicken to a rimmed platter, pour the sauce, heated, over it, and serve the chicken with the rice. |
That sounds really yummy! I might have to try it sometime. |
Thanks for the recipe, it sounds really good. Just when ya' think you've done chicken every possible way...:p |
I would love to know how it turns out. If you're happy with it I will try it. I love Adobo! |
It turned out o.k...the recipe calls for 3/4cup soy sauce, I would next time probably do half of that! Also, you have to get the fat out of the sauce, make sure you do that or it's too oily, or maybe don't put a lot of sauce on your final plate. It was my first time making it, so I'm sure after some practice I"ll get better. It's my favorite food, but for some reason it didn't turn out as good. One thing we also added was adobo seasoning. If you guys want to try it, if you have any Filipino restaurants or stores by you they might have some already made, the ones by our house usually do. |
