Food ideas? So youth group is moving from Wednesday to Sunday nights. My husband and I are both youth leaders. We are being kicked out of our room on Wednesdays because the childrens ministry has grown so much. So we are changing it up. I am in charge of all the food (YAY!) for it, and the youth pastor wants a supper instead of the snacks we usually have. I am excited about this because I LOVE to make food for people, its something I really really enjoy. I am planning right now to cook for 40 people on Sunday nights, hoping to get up to 75 in the next few months. Besides boring things like hot dogs, what are some economical and simple meals to feed that many teens? I want to do creative things that they are going to enjoy. I brought them their meals for Aquire the Fire last month, and they loved them. I did ranch turkey wraps with homemade choc chip cookies and chips, and boring hot dogs, brownies, and potato salad for dinner. I need lots of ideas because this is a weekly thing and I always will be needing new things to bring. So any and all ideas are appreciated. I am making a list and going to stock up a month in advance for groceries. Oh, and it starts April 6th, so I need to get a jump on this! |
Can I please just say *HOLY CRAP* - 40 people!??! Thank you. Carry on. I'll think about ideas now. Humbled over here. |
LOL! I really want to open my own catering business someday, so this is the PERFECT experience for me. |
What about sloppy joes, a taco bar, pizza, spaghetti, or any type of casserole!? |

OOooo, oooo, oooo - and then and then - you could do make your own brownies - where, the brownies are made - but then you could have available: white chocolate frosting, milk choc. frost., dark. choc. frost., sprinkles, nuts, choc chips for sprinkle, raspberry syrup for dripping etc etc. - yum! |
Ice cream sundae's would work well with that idea too..or frost your own cupcakes.. |

Oh good idea on the build-your-own desserts! I got tacos down for the 3rd Sunday. Sort of a Mexican Fiesta theme. :D |
Holy, Moly .... I wasn't hungry until I started reading this thread. Excuse me, I have to go make a sandwich. LOL |
Shredded Chicken sandwiches are a good thing that you can make for that many people. I make them up when we have birthday party's for my kids as we have a large family. I also have been asked to make them for baby shower's and my nieces Graduation party. It's easy too. We get 2 cans of boned Chicken from Gordons Food service, 2 cans of roast Chicken gravy also from Gordons food service. 2 boxes of Stove top chicken stuffing. You mix it all together in a 6 quart crock pot and heat it up. It's very tasty! |
