I need a new job! Ok I'm venting about my job again! THis was supposed to be my dream job. Teaching college, great experience, great school! It has turned into my worst nightmare in 8 short months! I have been redesigning curriculum for the Fall and my boss decided today that the week I designed on Ethics (it took me 2 weeks to design, it was about 20 pages, and my colleagues all agreed it was great) was "too complicated" for our students so she went ahead and DELETED it! We are required to save our work on a shared drive. I am so mad I could scream! She just called me at home to tell me (it's 10pm) and I would be really mad except I'm really smart and emailed it to myself before I left work today so I still have it. She expects me to redo the enitre thing for our meeting Friday at 10am!?!?!?!?! Maybe I should give up higher ed and go into corporate? Ugh..........I'm so mad and I should be working on it but I'm just going to go snuggle with my crazy monkeys and go to bed! Thanks for reading my vent session ;) Kimberly~ |
wow!!! i would KILL my boss if she did that. and thats not the worst part, then she DELETED it without any thought??????? what a jerk!! you should get a new job but just a little FYI-don't quit until after you find a new job ;) i'm sorry you've had a bad night. i hope it all works out for you. if i wasn't so shy (and worried i would get fired) i would just say, " if you want it to be perfect, then why don't you do it yourself???" yea i know mean.... ;) |

Kimberly, that does sound awful!!! Is it just this one project or has the whole 8 months been a nightmare? I've worked in the corporate arena and it can be a real nightmare too if you don't work well under pressure. I was in private and public accounting and it was deadlines, deadlines, deadlines!!!!! And new projects all the time, due yesterday. Not to mention a boss who was the B from H***. She actually caused a women to have to seek counseling. Oh boy, I'm sorry. I guess I'm no help at all. Except maybe to let you know you're not alone. Hang in there. If you're really unhappy, make the change. Stand up for yourself. Speak to your boss. And remember, you can always vent here. Let us know how things go. |
not only that, she just didnt give you adequate feedback either, she just said "too complicated" without any specifics??? Not to mention that the one you constructed could have been modified, this is something that i would deffinatly talk to her about and see if it can be resolved |
What a witch. I hate people. Seriously. Luckily, my boss is on vacation for 2 weeks so I am living the good life. I'd quit at a moment when they need you the most and throw your work in her face on the way out. |

Kimberly~ How awful! That was your work and your writing. How dare she! I would go to her supervisor and complain to get it on the record. Hopefully anonymously so she cannot retaliate. That is just wrong. Hey, I hate it when admin deletes my long posts here because it takes valuable time to research and write it all down sometimes. But 20 pages, OMG I would be screamin' and tell her to redo it herself!!! :mad: |
What a total witch! You don't just delete some else's work! You at least let them use it to revise! And if you are comfortable teaching the plan to your students, and you're enthusiastic, they will jump on the bandwagon. My favorite professors are the passionate ones who really like what they're teaching. It sounds like you were psyched before she pulled her $#!t on you. |
Oh my goodness!!! You poor thing!!! I would be soooo upset! I am soo sorry that you have to redo the whole thing too. Hold your head up high, do what you need to do, then after, let her have it!!!! I hope things get better for you! |
Thank you all so much for listening to me! I went to work this morning at 7:00 and got done around 6:00 trying to figure out what to do. I did hear back from a job I applied for in Ohio when I was visiting my mom so that is good news and I am going to spend the weekend sending out my resume! I really do love teaching don't get me wrong, but University politics aren't really for me. And I am beginning to think that Simon and Hallie's wacky behavior the past few days is the result of my stress and the full moon tonight! |
You poor thing. If I were you, I would scream and yell (maybe at them, maybe not! ;) ). But was this about curriculum you would be teaching? If it was, then I would throw a complete fit. You should have freedom to teach what and how you want. If not, what is the point?! Don't quit in hopes that things get better, but I do hope that everything works about before classes start again! |
Im so sorry that you had such a bad day cause of your boss. Wow, that was wrong for your boss just to delete your work with any explanation. "Too complicated" is to vague. I know is hard but try not to make any decisions when you are feeling very depress, Wait for your head to clear. I wish you good luck. Please keep us posted. We are here for you.
