Dell DJ vs. Apple iPOD I'm getting ready to buy either a Dell DJ or an Apple iPOD. Does anyone own either one of these? Which is better? I love Dell and have a brand new Dell computer and laptop. But is the Apple iPOD better? Any advice of these products is, as always, much appreciated! :p |
I have a pink mini apple ipod! I love it and have never had any problems at all with it! I am not sure what a Dell Ipod does, so I am not sure if an Apple does anything a Dell doesn't or vice versa. |

I am not a computer genius or anywhere close and I still use it so it can't be hard. I download songs from Ares or Limewire, anywhere that you can download from. Then I select open in external file and it copies the song into my itunes library. You get the itunes cd with the ipod. Then you connect the ipod to your computer and it downloads the song into it. It is very fast too. Hopefully that helps! |

Ares and Limewire are website where you download songs from for free. Itunes is a site where you can buy music, but I was talking about the itunes cd that come with your ipod that you have a library of your own songs on and if you want to share your music their are shared files on their too, since i am in college and i lived in a dorm i saw all the songs that people in the dorms had downloaded and wanted to share, you can download those shared songs too. You can also go to the itunes website with this cd and pay for songs. |
Macintosh girl speaking: I have a 30gb iPod Photo and I love it; they've improved the battery and mine lasts about 15 hours. Before that, I had a 20gb iPod. The battery wasn't as good as my photo. My best friend has a Dell DJ and its not user friendly at all. |

2 Attachment(s) There are too many buttons on it. Check out these photos. The screen is clearer on the iPod. The Dell DJ looks like an old Atari from the 1980s compared to the iPod Also, the iPod is just PRETTIER :) |
I have a blue mini ipod with the docks/speakers. I got it for my birthday last year. My husband had doubts about getting it because the battery actually only had a 2 year warranty when he first researched it. Luckily, consumers made them change their warranties heheheheh. If I bought all the songs in my Ipod at Itunes I'd be broke. It takes time to DL if you get it for free plus you have to filter it to make sure you're getting quality sound but I've done this even before I had an Ipod and I kinda got used to it. Get a mini ipod!!! :D |
I would have to agree...Ipod's are much more user friendly...The new ipod has a color screen!! I use Limewire and a program called Acquisition (for the Mac) to get my music...I also use Itunes to buy music... |

I have a 40GB Ipod and I love it. It's by far one of my favorite gadgets. We took a roadtrip on Monday that ended up being about 12 hours and it almost lasted the entire trip. I have almost 5000 songs on it and it's not even halfway filled up yet! I highly recommend it. |
I have the Dell DJ & a Dell computer. I am a computer retard, but I can use it with no problem. I heard if you have a Ipod and have a computer other than an apple you have to buy special software and you don't get much customer service. I have always been very happy with the customer service at dell. Also i did some research on the napster site and it's not all it's cracked up to be. You pay one fee to use there songs. If you end your membership or stop paying you lose the ability to use there songs. I'm not exactly sure how they can make them stop working once they are on you MP3, but it sounds like they can do something of the sort. If you actually want to own the song you have to pay the monthly membership fee plus $0.99 per song. I use MSN to buy songs from because they give you 5 free when you sign up. |

I don't have an apple computer and I didn't have to buy anything for my ipod to work on my pc. I just popped the cd in my computer and it worked. |
Do you have to be on-line to download songs to your iPOD? |
Well not if you are taking the songs from a cd...But if you plan on downloading songs then you do need to be online |
I've had 2 iPods, my current one is a 60G iPod photo. They are still dominating the market. The interface is really userfriendly... SO is the service if you buy it from Apple directly. For instance, my old iPod quit working one day. I sent it in to Apple and they sent me a BRAND NEW one for free. Well, kind of for free. I had purchased the $50 Applecare warranty plan for it. The nicest part about iPods, at least for me, is that I also download my calendar onto it. It's like having a PDA to remind you of important dates. Just something to think about. |
Students I believe prefer the apple Ipod. It's been useful to catch up on lectures when you miss it and for review purposes. |
