My cabinet Im so proud of..... 2 Attachment(s) Just wanted to share a few pics of my cabinet that I am so darn proud of..... I bought the cabinet from a friend of mine who was moving and didn't have the room for it for $25. It was painted teal green. A really yucky teal too. I forgot to take pics of it before I started to redo it. I put it in the garage and stripped it all down. When I got a closer look at it I found that all the hardware is really really old. I took the hardware to the antique store here and they told me that it is a very rare find considering how good of shape it is in. I then relized that on the inside of the drawers there is a stamp so back to the antique store I went. I found out that the cabinet was made in the early 1900's. After I stripped it all down i was a little disappointed because there are some really bad water marks on the wood that I cant get out and some big stains that I cant get out so I decided to paint the cabinet and distress it to look old. SO here is the final pic. I just love this cabinet though. Its great to hold all my nic nac stuff (im a collector of neat and different nic-nac-ey things) |
For $25:00 thats really nice :D Those lil drawers do they open???? can you put stuff in side?? :animal-sm You painted it a nice colour too  |
Yup the drawers open and the bottom has the 2 doors and 2 shelfs inside to store things too. I keep the dogs leashes and stuff in the one drawer and the other one I keep little candles and stuff like that. |
wow!!! thats very cute! and pretty!!!!! i love it!!! (your house looks nice too!) |
Kelly, again, wow! You've done an excellent job. So creative, you are! I'm shocked  that the more I think about it, you and me if we ever lived close to each other would have SUCH fun! :) I am so lonely here with noone to do crafty, creative projects with. |
I love crafts too, but that was a major project! I used to do a lot of faux painting on furniture and walls. I love it, but i never seem to find the time any more. You are inspiring me! Thanks. :) |
5 Attachment(s) I really enjoyed doing this cabinet. I liked distressing it to look old too. Here are some up close pics that I took to show how I distressed it. I have had a few friends want to buy it off of me including the one that i bought it from. But Im keeping it. It turned out way better than I was hoping that it would. I added a layer of burgundy under the green and white so that when I sanded it that color would show through to make it looked aged. |
