Mercedes-Benz who has one what do you think of it, I am going over today to sign the paperwork so I have about 3 hours to make up my mind is it expensive to maintain do they last a while??? any input would be great thanks!! |
Any car like that would be expesive to maintain bc of the way the build there engine, very complicated. I was going to get a volvo but the parts and labor wern't worth it. They are nice, but you have to out weigh the maintence with the car itself. |
Depends what model you are getting. Some of the lower end models the interiors aren't very comfy. Maintenence costs on foreign cars are usually higher than domestic. |
Are you buying or leasing? Most of the luxury leases include all maintenance on the vehicle during the course of the lease. The biggest downside of luxury cars is that you have to be specific with who does the work as not every shop can handle the parts and high performance engines. Also, most of these cars require premium gasoline. |
My daughter has one and it is expensive for repairs, but you shouldn't have to worry about that for a while....she had brake work done, which was rotors, pads, and calipers, struts in front, trans. flush and it was $3000  ......she can only use premium gas.....oil change was $150.00.....she said hers is a gas hog.....the cover around the gear shift got cracked and that was $1000....and the knob on her radio was $100.... She said other that that it is a nice ride, she just has to be very careful with it......She won't let her husband drive it for fear he will damage something.... |
exspensive Ive onwmed a jauguar everything is at least 3xs more then a normal car |

With gas prices going up, if I could right now, I would buy a hybrid car..I have a pick up truck, it sits parked in the garage, and will continue to do so...do you put a lot of miles on for work? |
If you're going to drive it for quite awhile, YES, it should absolutely "last" - it is built extremely well, and with extremely expensive parts (hence, expensive to fix *if* something does go awry). It's considered a "performance" car - so it should hold some value as well. It's a great ride, needless to say. So, partly - you're paying for performance - and partly, you're paying for MB's brand here too, and whatever it means to you. New cars are fun, so let us know what you decide! :) |
i like them.:) |
I don't have a Mercedes, but I know a lot of people who do and they love them. My hubby and I both have Jags and I can tell you from experience, that the servicing is outrageously expensive as is anything else that it will need replaced (say, a headlamp, a taillamp that might get cracked). If you put a lot of miles on your car, the brakes are expensive (my dh puts a LOT of miles on his car) and I won't EVEN go into how much the dealership wants for a transmission:( . If you have your heart set on the Benz, my best suggestion is to get the extended warranty; you'll be glad you did! Isn't getting a new car FUN???? Enjoy! |
I had planned on buying one this year, but put it on hold because in the Consumers Report, it said they are very unreliable and costly to fix. You might want to check this before you sign. I really had my heart set on a Benz, but after reading the report, I'm now reluctant to. |
Depends,what is the warranty for,3,5 years..etc.? |
