Must be the day for rants!
 

:mad: :mad: I just got back from the grocery store - I hate to shop unless it's for Scooter. Well, I get back by the meat counter (which is a very narrow area where I needed to be) and there is a family there with two of those carts that look like cars with 4 little kids in each of them - all of them screaming their heads off - there were a total of 5 adults - not one of them was trying to do anything with them. My husband called on my cell phone and said "where in the world are you?" They were that loud. Not to mention I couldn't even get up to the bins!

I finally got what I could remember that I needed (I was having trouble remembering my name at that point), and proceeded to the frozen vegetables on the other end of the store. Well, I'm standing there, and I can still hear the kids yelling and they were in the middle of the store at the checkout!!. By the time I got to the checkout, I was shaking like a leaf...the family was in the checkout on the other side of me and the girl that was checking me out just kept shaking her head!

I came home without a few of the things I needed because I got so rattled! Geez, Louise!!! I know I shouldn't have gotten so upset, I'm not usually that way, but that really got to me. :thumbdown

I hate when people take unruly children to the grocery store. I never took my children when they were young left them with their dad. I always go to the grocery store at 9 am on Sat or Sunday. You usually avoid the rift raft when you go early. I know that had to be aggrivating

I guess the thing that bothered me the most is that the adults were completely ignoring the way the kids were acting. There was an elderly man on oxygen in one of those wheelchair carts trying to get up to the counter too. He just looked at me and rolled his eyes in disgust!

I would have found a manager and told him he needed to do something about them ASAP. I've heard stories of managers/owners of stores telling people to leave for not controling their kids before.

I was by no means a perfect parent but I always took all 3 of my kids everywhere with me but never allowed them to act like that. I just don't understand.

I always took both of mine too, but they never acted like that. It's not the kids fault...it's the adults that allow it!

I alway's took my four boy's with me too and they were alway's well behaved. They are all close in age (14, 13, 11, and 10) and 2 have ADHD, still very well behaved children. They knew what behavior we expected when out in public and school!

Some parents do tend to not care how their child is acting. BUT I must say that if any of you have read parenting books or taken parenting classes, they do teach you that you should ignore a child throwing a fit, even in public places! It is suggested that you wait to speak about their behavior in privet so you do not embarrass the child. They do suggest time out or privileged being taken away too but that is for older children mostly.

I had to take classes last year on child abuse for day care and I kid you not, they said to just ignore the fit being thrown, talk to them in privet on behavior, give a time out when calmed down or take a privilege away. The instructor said that she has had a parent get called on for abusing their child just simply for picking her child up off the floor and going to her car while the father finished shopping. She did not yell at the child, just removed her from the store so she would not cause a seen. People feared that she was going to beat the child. :rolleyes:

I take my kids too and they do occasionally start but all it takes is one sharp look from me and you better believe they straighten right up! They know if they ever truly showed their tails in public they are in for it when we get back home. ONE TIME, my oldest through a fit in Wal-Mart and ya'll can all ask her if she will ever do it again. You better believe she will absolutely tell you no way.

I guess it's a good thing my kids are grown now! They'd get me for being an abusive parent for sure...ignore their fits my rearend!!!! I think a lot of the problems we have today are due to parents being so feelie/touchie and afraid to take care of the problem at the moment it happened. I tell you, when I was growing up, all my Dad had to say was "Are you tired of feeling good?" and that was all it took!

Ugh! I hate when people do that. I have a 13 month old and when he throws a fit my husband will take him out to the car. Older kids normally act out for attention though, they parents should of taken them out so everyone else could shop in peace. Before I had kids I vowed not to turn into that sort of parent. LOL I would of spoken to the manager.

ooohhh yeah that would irk me too... but Id do anything to avoid a 2nd trip to the store so it wouldnt affect my shopping!

Actually Im a little embarrassed to say "I LOVE FOOD SHOPPING!" LOL Its my favorite chore! I love knowing i have food in my house, and trying new things that I find at the store... its GREAT! :) (I think I just like spending money! LOL)
