Boil is actually a cyst that needs removal I went to my family doctor today because nothing seems to be helping this lump on my face. It looks really bad now and I'm embarrassed to be out in public with it. :( My doctor said it's a cyst and is making an appointment for me with a Plastic Surgeon. Please pray it doesn't scar. I hope they can get me in quick because it's really made me self conscious. He has also put me on a heavy duty antibiotic that I take 4 times a day for 10 days. I feel better knowing I'm on something to help with infection. Thanks for your support ladies. I'll let you know how the removal goes. :) |
I'm glad they have a plan to heal it now, but I'm sorry you have to deal with it all. Hugs and puppy kisses from us. |
Sweetie, prayers are coming your way. Good luck. |
I'm so sorry and I know how frightening this can be, but plastic surgeons are great at what they do. I had to have something removed right next to my nose once and no one can notice the scar. Good luck .... |
plastic surgeons usually are the best for not leaving scars! good luck;) |
That's stinks. I had a large mole removed by a plastic surgeon under my eye and you could never tell. I'm glad he referred you to a Plastic surgeon. |
Should be pretty straight forward. They will probably just lance and drain. |
I'm glad that you're seeing a plastic surgeon for this, you have a good doctor. If he had tried to remove it himself, you'd probably have a scar, but you can be darned sure that your scar from the PS should be unnoticeable after it's had time to heal. The most #1 important thing is to NOT let any sun get to it until it's 100% faded. UV rays will cause the scar to stay red permanently. Until it's all healed, keep a bandage over it and then when the surgeon says it's okay to put creams on it, get a super high spf and use it a few times a day. I've had a few plastic surgeries, that's how I know:laugh: |
Thanks so much for your support. I am a little freaked out but anything will be better then what's there right now. I'm thankful my doctor is sending me to a Plastic Surgeon. I agree he is a good doctor for doing that. Most would just remove it in their office and not worry about leaving a scar. I'm very lucky. I'll definitely heed your warning regarding sun exposure too. Hugs to you all |
It's a good thing that you finally went to your family doctor. You are on the road to recovery. Hope that the ps can schedule you quickly for surgery. |
OH wow... that stinks! Ive had cysts ... one behind my ear about 2 years ago... it was really painful! some of us are just prone to them I think. I didnt see a plastic surgeon just a regular doc who does that procedure in her office... it was over in 2 mins and felt soooo much better! I hope all goes well for you though!! :) |
My mom is one of those that is prone to getting them. She ALWAYS gets them behind her ears and on the inside of her thigh. Normally she keeps hot compresses on them and they end of either popping and draining themselves (I know, gross) or they just dissipate. But last month she had a monster on the inside of her thigh! It was like 5 in. in diameter, and she had to get it lanced. Hers turned into an absest and was all infected. She tried too hard with the hot compresses because she didn't want to get it lanced, and it got REAL bad. You're very lucky that you get to go see a plastic surgeon. Like everyone else said, you have a good doctor and you have nothing to worry about! |
Well my cyst started to drain today and my doctor's secretary said that the plastic surgeon is booking into April. We are just waiting to hear when they can book me in. If I have to wait until April I will be so depressed. I'm thinking by then it better be gone on it's own. I'm having anxiety attacks thinking about it. Thank God he gave me the antibiotics or I would be really stressing out. |
I'm glad it is draining. Maybe it will go away all on it's own. When I was with my mother recently for day surgery, there was a man in the next bed in the recovery who had a cyst removed by a plastic surgeon and even in the recovery room, it looked great. |
Wishing you luck, maybe it will drain completely. Sheilagh |
