I feel so bad for my dtr I met her for lunch after she got off work and she burst in to tears, she never cries, her employer sold the business and her last day will be April 1st. She worked in their house and made 15.00 an hour plus bonus when they were out of town and she ran the business. They were very flexible with her college schedule. I told her she will get another job maybe not making that salary but she doesn't have any bills, has a savings account and it is just her PT job 20 hours a week. I am really glad she has such a great work ethic but it makes me sad to see her so upset. I told her to take a month or 2 off, concentrate on her grades so she doesn't loose the instate tuition for to low of a grade point average and enjoy her self. She has worked since she was 16 and gone to school full time. She will graduate in December. |
awwww Im sorry to hear that! I hate when great jobs comes to an end! :( tell her chin up and something will come up! |
That is awesome that she has such a great work ethic! It's so hard to see our babies sad though- I hope something great comes her way. |
Oh i'm so sorry. Give her a hug. |
Aww, tell her these things usually work out for the best in the long run. People who have a good work ethic are hard to come by and if she does a good job, she will have no problem. I've been in that situation before and as scary as it is, in the long run, it was the best thing to happen to me. :) |
I am so sorry she is so upset. I love that she has such a great work ethic. She deserves a little break. Tell her to just enjoy being young for a month or two. |
I'm so sorry to hear about your daughters situation. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. I was laid off yesterday... But they say eveything happens for a reason. On the bright side, she has had some notice and has plenty of time to find somehting new if she choses to get another job. Plus, she's still young and will graduate soon and will be able to start on her new path :) I wasn't this positive about things yesterday, but it's like people say.. "when one door closes, another one opens". I wish her the best of luck! |
I know just how she feels...I have never been out of work in 20 years and now I cant find a job to save my life..I apply everywhere..nothing..Im 35 with three kids and Im lucky my bf has a job and we do have an income...but it just makes you feel like something is wrong with you and you get more and more down..I hate being out of work.. Dawn |
OMG her boyfriend just called and broke up with her over the phone saying he doesn't have time for a GF. She is so devastated. She bought him 80.00 hockey tickets for Sunday and he said you can have them back!! I thought he was a nice guy! I feel so bad I know she has to go thru these things but it was her first bf in 3 years since her last one cheated on her. |
oh, my when it rains it pours -- but I also, believe that so often when we go thru an immense amt of difficulty we are just being prepared for an even better place in our lives. What really matters is how she chooses to react to all the change. She's better off without this guy - she deserves a man who wants to be with her; it sounds like she has so much going for her |
My heart goes out to you both, as a parent it is so hard to watch our babies hurt like this. It will be difficult for her to believe this now or to understand because she is so upset, but she needs to understand that things will get better for her. Life is just this way, we go through bad times and good times. The key is to not allow yourself to be consumed with despair because both of these situations will pass, and she will be happy again. She'll find another job, a much more deserving of her love, boyfriend will come along and this painful time will be a distant memory. |

I am so sorry but I hope she can realize that she is better off. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason and that something spectacular is coming her way and she'll be thankful for the events that lead her there. Big hugs. |
Oh, my goodness! Isn't that the icing on the cake!! I am so sorry. Your daughter will be in my prayers. I wish she wasn't having to go through such trials right now. There must be something much better waiting for her. |
Patti, I can just feel how much this hurts you to see your daughter struggle with such pain. She is very, VERY lucky to have you there for comfort and support and I think the advice you gave her was very good. I know that she is in a difficult place, but the comfort you provide for her right now is priceless. I hope things begin to turn around soon for her, but till then .... just hold her close and let her know that you are there for her... no matter what. Nothing is as bad as it seems when you have your mothers love and support. Hugs to you.... Janie |
Oh Patti! Give your Baby Girl a big hug for me! I am crushed just reading it! I know how I feel everytime I see my own daughter hurt... Its such an awful feeling of helplesness. I'm so sorry she is having such a rough go of things. They say that bad things come in threes... for her sake I hope its just a stupid saying... Take her out for icecream! LOL :p Ok, maybe that only works when they're 12. But maybe not... I think I'd still have a good cry over some rocky road! ;) |
