Vent!!!!
 

Okay this is going to sound mean but I must VENT!!! I do not know why some people think that just because I work in retail that it is okay to treat me like some piece of s**t. I had a lady(if you could call her that) chews me out over nothing. I am sorry she had a bad day but it was not my fault. Here lately we have had some winners at work. I don't know if they think because I choose to work there that I am less then them and its okay or what But I am beginning to get hacked off. Okay I will proboly hear about this next one but then I had to listen to a stay at home mom complain about how much she had to do that day and how lucky I was to get away to work. Okay I am sorry but I would love nothing better then to stay home but with the jobs in our little town we can't afford for both of you not to work unless you can qualify for help. I don't know if she thinks that I don't have to do all the same things as her(laundery, shopping, dishes,cleaning) or what because I work. Sorry to vent so long but this has been a crappy day and has been boiling inside all day.

The only good part was when I saw my 2 boys and Hunter:aimeeyork

Aww hon not sure what is wrong with people these days. My little sister works at Bed Bath and Beyond and she is forever telling me stories of how abusive people are and the stupid things that come out their mouths.

Sorry for your bad day Jamie. My daughter's first job was retail, so I did learn to appreciate it a lot more from that direction.

I think that I am nice to all retail, waitstaff, etc. They are usually the ones that make whatever "outing" more fun for me!!

We must be pretty friendly because we usually end up chatting up a storm with all the help.

I'm sorry you had a bad day. I'm a stay at home mom and very grateful to be one. I worked as a waitress back in the day and man, people are RUDE! Try not to let them get to you too bad- people who act like that are unhappy, ugly people.

When I was in college I worked at a shoe store. I met some of the rudest people on earth. Not only were there a lot of rude customers, there were a lot of slobs! It's amazing how some people out there really don't care about other people. Sometimes I wonder what happened to common courtesy for your fellow human being. :thumbdown

I am a kindergarten teacher and people are constantly asking me, "How do you DO it?" But I ask the same question to those that work in retail, food service and/or hospitality. I totally admire those that have the patience and charm to work with adults on a daily basis. People can be so rude and they demand the most ridiculous things.

My husband works in hotels and you should hear the complaints he has heard! He once worked in a 5 star hotel that overlooked a beautiful bay. One of the guests asked if they could move the kelp because it ruined the look of the bay (C'MON!).

My sister works as a waitress and constantly has stories of nightmare customers.

So...vent all you want! I applaud you for doing a job for which I would never have the patience.

I am sorry you have a bad day. I think part of why working is so hard is not the work itself, its the people you have to deal with. I am staying at home and I do appreciate it although I must admit I really need to start making some money.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.:) Most days I just let it roll off my back(after almost 12 yrs) you get better but some days that just does not work and you just have to explode. I have learn better not to get affected when people yell at me for something I have no control over(stuff deleted or won't come in) I had a customer one year close to christmas call me everthing but a white women becuase two days before christmas we were out of that years hottest toy. Supplies had been limited all year. I told her I am sorry but we have not been able to get it in again. She asked me what her child was supposed to do because he really wanted this toy and then cussed me out(called a manager real quick though cuase they don't pay me enough to take that and our manager will tell us that). I would have loved nothing more that to get her this toy but we don't make this stuff in the backroom. I had a coworker tell me one time "What does she want me to do poop it out" At the time that was so funny.

i totally get it when i use to work at a "gas station" people treated me like i wasn't even human or sisn't even matter at all like i had NO feelings i'm not a robot i have feelings! it takes ALOT and i mean alot to make me angry except when it comes to certain topics but it's just not right for anyone to treat someone like they are second rate because of where they work! i would tell them personally look maybe your having a bad day but i didn't cause it! they just don't get it or don't think about it at all!

I have several customer like this and I love to see them come in!!:) I have several that are like you and they sometimes make my day so thank you.

They seem to understand that we are not in control of what we carry or having to move stuff around. If we had our way nothing would EVER move but as long as the people that sign my paycheck says this is the way you will rearrange that stuff I will do it and grit my teeth the whole time.:p

i'm sorry that you had a bad day at work! retail is a very hard job to do. some people should understand that and treat retail workers with respect..

I know how you feel! I work in an Optometry practice and people are sooo crazy about their glasses and contacts especially if they have vision insurance! People can be so hateful and RUDE so I totally feel ya. Hang in there and hers a big hug for ya! :D
