Anyone in Ohio? Used to live in Ohio? Hey Everyone! Well, I'd like to get some info from anyone & everyone I can. My fiance & I are looking to move out of California. As much as we love it here, housing prices are completely ridiculous. $500,000 and up for literally, a shack  We've been looking at moving to Ohio. He's been researching housing out there and it's in a range that we can afford. I've never been, he has, but it was a long time ago. We're planning to take a trip out there soon, to check it out, but can anyone give me any info on Ohio? I'm in school though and we'd need to be near a university so I could finish up. Anyone have any suggestions on cities? Schools? Do you like living in Ohio? What are the pros/cons? What natural disasters do you guys get out there? (I.E. we have earthquakes here) Any help would be appreciated :D |
I personally live in Wisconsin but I really dont think anything really ever happens in Ohio. I dont recall hearing anything happening there. Good luck with moving wherever you decided. |
I was born in Ohio but have lived most of my life in Indiana. I have family in Dayton Ohio. I really like Kettering and Englewood. Ohio has tornados like Indiana does. Good luck! |
I was born in dayton ohio , moved to Ky when i was 12 and glad we did . I love kentucky and the cost of living is smaller than big cities. We have a 50 acre farm and a large house with a big barn and our property taxes are 250.00 a year . Gotta love small town living. We are close to Morehead state University college |
I live in Ohio!!!! About 1 hour out of Cleveland!!! It depends what area you want tolive in, but no matter where you decide, you can get a huge, gigantic house for 500,000. Cleveland is a very nice place to live. The suburbs of Beachwood, Solon, Hudson, Strongsville, Lyndhurst, Westlake are all very nice suburbs!! I really don't know too much about the Cinncinati/Dayton area, but there too are lotes of wonderful area there too. If I was able to move- I would probably go to Columbus. There are some brand new up and coming areas there. Its a younger area with Ohio State right there, and tons and tons of development going on!!! I live near Youngstown, which is OK- but... Akron/Canton too is very nice-- So maybe go onlione and research each area and see what there is what each area has to offer and see which area will fit your needs!!! Good luck with your search!!!! |
I live in Ohio. My husband and I live in the country outside of a small town that is between Bowling Green and Findlay. I grew up in Findlay and they have a nice University. Findlay is a fairly large city but a very nice one. We live about 30 miles from Toledo also but Toledo is Very large and they have a large crime rate also. The only natural disasters Ohio has is Storms, some Tornado's. Winters can get pretty cold sometimes but, not usually under 0 degrees with some heavy snow fall at times. Good luck ! |
And really, not too much weather wise here too. Except yes- tornados, but very rarely. And if you move to the Cleveland area--tons of LAKE EFFECT Snow and some Blizzards. We had a ton of snow this past year. It snowed here the 1st weekend of May!!! But it has been very hot here this summer!!! So, in Ohio- you never know what kind of weather you will have!!! |
I pick Cleveland out of cities in Ohio. I've been to Cincinnati, Columubs, Canton, etc etc. Anyway, what about Chicago 'burbs? Just a thought. You could get a super nice house in the low 200s. |
Big Ohio State fans here. we used to live in a small town (Plain City) close to Columbus. you have the big city close enough and yet far enough to have the small town effect. the schools (when my kids went to school) were excellent. I also lived in Perrysburg for a while.(close to toledo). nice place also and Bowling green, Defiance, is close to there for your schooling. kind of depends on what you are studying as to the school you want. Lots of nice small towns and mid size towns to choose from. tornados in the warm months and blizzards in the cold! but not too often for either. i would say pick a school or job and go from there. |
