Help with Replacing Windows We recently started looking at getting new windows for our house and I am so lost. What are some good companies? What should I be looking for? I don't really care about the special gas between the glass since it leaks out anyways, but want the Low E glass and a quality window. Anyone recently replace there's that can help? |
PGT is what we use here in FL. The are very good quality windows. |
Look up the places that do this kind of work, have them come out with their book of pictures and give you the estimates. Be sure to get as many estimates as possible. Then if you decide on a company, call the Better Business Bureau to see if there has been complaints. Good luck in your search. |
Are you replacing them yourself or hiring someone to purchase and install them? |

Ok....I'm just asking because you can get them alot more inexpensive if you do it yourself. Also Home Depot carries them and yours might have installation also. Also I don't remember if Colorado requires permits to install them but if they do make sure it's included in the price. Sorry the GC in me is working overtime. :D |
we have andersen windows and they are great. everyone around here seems to like that brand. |
Pella. ;) |
I had insulated, double-paned replacement windows put in my old home in Virginia. One of the things I do remember is that the dealer told me the way to make sure there really is argon gas between the two panes of glass is to light a lighter or hold a candle flame in front of the window and you should see a mirror images of the flame. I'm no window expert but it worked. Here is info that might help:) http://www.bestinclassnetwork.com/bl...ement-windows/ |
We bought windows at home depot and my husband was able to install them himself. He said it was a lot easier that he thought. I think our windows are made by Anderson. |
Great Lakes Windows. |
We have a Pella bay (or they call it a Bow window) in the kitchen. Love it, its got blinds in the glass so you never have to clean them. But the string for the blinds always gets tangled, but maybe they've improved that feature over the years. They're really cool, they crank out and have a screen that pulls down. |
