Genpets...WTH?
 
Has anyone ever heard of this? Apparently they are living genetic animals. I came across it while i was on google actually looking up something else. I still don't entirely get what they are or do:confused: Looks freaky!

They aren't real. Read the "why" page http://www.brandejs.ca/portfolio/Genpets/Why They were created to illicit a response from people. To see how people reacted when they saw live, genetically engineered pets for sale. It says the older generation was outraged, while the younger generation wanted to buy them. They are more of an experiments..

omg thnx so much! i was freaking out and questioning myself! i knew someone here must have heard of them cause i haven't. I was looking at the pictures of how they are made with clay, etc. but then i was reading everything else and was still wondering how can they be real? So they are NOT real animals correct? im still a little confused lol

Nice detective work! I thought it had to be phony too, but I wasn't sure. Too creepy.

No, they aren't real. They are sculptures and packaged to look like they are really alive. They advertise them as being real, live, bioengineered pets. The creator did this to see what response people would have to the creation of and marketing of live, bioengineered animals. But, no, they aren't real

OMG! Sarah, I just read all about it from the 2nd link you posted.

Then I saw [MyFairLacy]'s post....thank God it's not real! I was beginning to wonder WTF is happenning to us humans! that we could even think of buying a "pet" like this. Just gross.

I'm sorry, i'm not getting it. Is it like a computer pet? If you go to the website, you cant order, but "if" you could (says coming soon) it offers 1 yr life span or 3 yr life span.
I'm a little confused.
And do they make it in a baby model:p i'll take that.
