Question?? Now this may be silly but I got to ask.... Ok if you having a baby do you have to get rid of your cat before you have the baby? My BF was saying that one of her friends just found out that she is preggo and my BF was telling her that she has to get rid of her cat before the baby is born because of something in the cat's poop the baby can't be around. I think I kinda heard this before maybe a while back but didn't really care about it because I litteraly HATE cats (no offense to people who own cats :p) I just can't stand them. Anyone is this true are you suppose to get rid of cats when you have a newborn in the home??? |
You do not have to get rid of the cat. What a pregnant woman should not do....is clean the litterbox. Cat feces can carry toxoplasmosis. It's a parasite. Btw, cat feces is not the only place you can catch it either.... My mil never heard of the above....but she was certain one of my cats would suck my baby's breath and kill her. That didn't happen either....the cats gave that new wee person wide berth. They were terrified of the baby. |
i had a cat when preggers with trinity...you just aren't allowed to clean the box (as previously mentioned :D ) |

When you're pregnant you shouldn't have to clean anything....or make dinner either. ;) |
There is also a new study out that there is a parasite that cats can get from killing outside animals that is linked to... schitzophrenia, maybe? I don't remember that exact illness..but only outside cats can get it.. |
