Huge Boil on my face???? I've never had one of these in my life. I've had pimples but this is definitely a boil. Anyone have any experience with this? If so what did you do to get rid of it. It's been there for over a week. I've tried toothpaste, clearasil pads, etc etc. Any advice would be appreciated. There is no head and doesn't look like it's going to have one any time soon. Thanks!!! |
wow im really sorry.i think if its on your face you should see a doctor.so he can take care of it the right way.you dont want to end up with a scare.good luck to you i hope it gets better:) |
A dermatologist can give you an injection directly in the boil and it'll go away without getting or looking any worse. Other than that....hot compresses can help it come to a head. Salve out is otc medicine that'll do that too. |
I thought boils have a core that has to come out? Anyway I think I'd go to a Dr. and have him remove it. I've heard they are terribly painful. Hope you get some help soon. |
My hubby gets these sometime, Not on his face but behind his ears, I use boilease and it draws the boil to a head, Not sure if thats something you would want on your face though..It smells awful, But you do keep a bandage on it..Good luck to you:) they can be painful:( |
I worked for a dermatologist for awhile, put peroxide on a cotton ball and put a bandaid over it. Also, there is an over the counter wash called benzoyl peroxide wash, use it twice a day. you should notice the inflammation go down overnight. |
Wow....thanks so much ladies. I really appreciate your help and concern. I\'m going to try the peroxide with a band aid. Thank you!!!! Yes, painful to touch. I definitely don\'t want it to look worse. You guys are the best. |
I was going to suggest putting neosporin on it and cover it with a bandaid..not sure if it will work though?? Dawn |
ouch !! I\'ve never had one but my husband did and I had to get him what was mentioned by littlewhip - \'boilease\'.... then \'do stuff\' to it   and it wasn\'t fun at all - - I remember it was over the counter - but to have one on your face you may want to see someone - that\'s a little scary and they can get infected - GOOD LUCK ! |
Garlic and onions have proved most effective among the several home remedies found beneficial in the treatment of boils. The juice of garlic or onion may be applied externally on boils to help ripen them, break them, and evacuate the pus. An equal quantity of the juices of these two vegetables can also be applied with beneficial results. Eating of two to three pods of garlic during meals will also bring good results. |
i had one on my leg and needed oral antibiotics. i also used hydocortizone for redness. |
A you certain it is a boil? I know that MRSA shows up with a red inflamed bump that looks kind of like a boil. I would go have it checked if I were you. |
Please! Just go to the doctor. Do not do anything to it. It could be a sebaceous cyst that has become infected. I had one many years ago. It won\'t get better on its own or with anything you can so to it. It will probably need to be removed. Because it is on your face, you don\'t want it to come to a head and drain. If it does, it will leave a hole like scar on your face. Best to just have it taken out. All the best to you. |
 Why my face???? I took Paulapoo\'s advice and slept with a cotton ball soaked with peroxide held with a band aid overnight and it seems to have shrunk it a bit and looks less inflamed. I\'ll be very careful not to pick at it and I\'ll watch for infection. It\'s about the size of a dime right now. I\'ll keep you posted. I will go to the doctor if it appears to be getting worse. Thanks for all your help. The staph infection possibility does scare me. So I will be careful. |
If its been there a while..i\'d have it tested for mrsa. its really going around here in indiana. its a form of the staph infection. my friend works in the er and they have about 16-20 cases a night. its a real outbreak about here. it usually starts as a boil on the skin. |
