Does anyone make memory quilts? I was thinking of having one of these made for my daughter for graduation but don't know much about them or the process to make them so I may not have time. Someone gave me a number for a lady but she stopped making them about a year ago and couldn't refer me to anybody else. :( |
Are you wanting a tshirt quilt (made out of scraps of favorite tshirts or outfits) or a photo quilt? I just got done make a photo quilt for my grandmother. But I don't know that I am talented enough to sell one. LOL! |
I will be having one made for both of my boys out of left over football jerseys (from little league), baseball jerseys, tournament t-shirts, etc. Of course I have a couple of years before I need to do the first one. I have 2 friends here in town who sew and although they've never made quilts before, have agreed to help make these for me. Not sure how they'll do it but.....we shall see. Best of luck to you in your search in finding someone to help you with this. |
I would like more info on this as well...I would love to have one made for my mom :) |

It really depends on how big your want it, how intricate you want it, and how much you want to pay as far as getting the professionals to do it. Here is a website for somone who does them: http://www.photoquiltcreations.com/home It says 1-3 weeks which sounds about right, but the prices are a little steep. I can post pictures of the one I just finished when I get home tonight. Its a lap quilt and it took about a week but its probably got some imperfections. But I've learned from my mistakes and I think my next one will be perfect! LOL! |
if you have anyone in your family that can sew, its very easy.. My daughter and my mom made her one out of t-shirts and it is PRECIOUS.. it was actually a home-ec class for my daughter.... it came out really cute and the imperfections make it even more special to her... Good Luck! d |
I do, I've done it before in a card trick pattern. But the photos I used were all 4x6. it was my first time and i think it came out ok. It's been 6 yrs since I made it. but.... i liked it. You can also post on ebay in the wanted section and ppl will contact you with their services. Its cheaper that way. |
You might want to check out these memory quilts. The end result was beautiful. |
