Outlook Express I use outlook express for e-mail. When I send an e-mail to more than one person at the same time, how do I make it so everyones e-mail address and or name doesn't show up? I want it to say; "Recipient list suppressed". Thanks :animal-pa |
I don't know how to make it say that...but you need to add the names to the "bcc" part instead of the "to" or "cc" part. bcc means "blind carbon copy" and none of the email addresses you add to that will show up in the email. I use this any time I am sending an email to more than one person. |
Oh... ok! thanks Mandee. :animal-pa |

if you don't see the bcc field, you might need to look in your settings and make sure it says "show bcc" sometimes that is not checked off so it doesn't show up. :) |
Besides using the bcc feature (which I wish everyone would for multiple mailings!), I also create a bogus addy to add to my address book, to put in the 'to' box, so it doesn't look so generic with 'undisclosed recipients'. I create an addy: Friends@my.list, and designate the display as 'Friends'. Then, it shows up as to: Friends in everyone's mailbox, but no one's address shows to anyone else. Clear as mud? :D |

ok. now I am confused! (I know it doesn't take much! LOL) I just tried to send out a multiple e-mail and I didn't put anyone in the "to" space. I had everyone in the bcc space. After it sent, I looked in the e-mail and nothing showed up in the to space, which is ok. So are you saying that the "friends@my.list" would show in the to spot? |

Hey Linda, Place the bogus mail addy in the To: list, and everyone else in the bcc. When it's mailed, it should show in your sent folder, To: Friends Of course, you won't be able to see who you've sent it out to, as bcc does not show - which would defeat the whole purpose of bcc. |
Ok, got it now. Thanks Ada and Mandee! :D |
