Cervical Epidural
 
I had a cervical epidural yesterday morning (for advanced degenerative disk disease) and my horrible pains have definitely improved this morning!!! OMG!!! I am so thankful. I have had constant pain (from the disks and from fibromyalgia) for 10 years. Thank you God!!

I have fibro too :(
They tried the cervical epidural on me and couldnt get it dont. I got so stressed out that I kept passing out and my blood pressure kept dropping even when given a valium. I would do anything to get rid of this neck pain

Wow, 10 years:eek:? I'm so sorry:( I hope that this treatment has long lasting effects for you. Did the docs say how long you can expect it to last?

No, everyone is different...some get no relief...some get forever relief...and everything in between. It is common to have the treatment repeated after a period of time. I am just thankful to hurt less, I'll do what I have to do. The doctor also started me on Lyrica (a new drug for the fibromyalgia)...maybe that will help the muscle pains! Gosh! I wouldn't know how to act!! LOL!!

So happy to hear that you are finally getting some relief from the terrible pain you have been experiencing.
I tried the epidurals for my herniated disk, but they did not work and after three of them the neurosurgeon decided it was time for surgery.
I had the surgery the beginning of January and as of yet .... no relief.:(
Of course, I am still in the process of healing and I continue to hope that it will come with time, but now have terrible muscle spasms that truly disable me further.

I'm sorry to hear that :( I had lumbar surgery in 1983 and that helped my low back. Is yours a lumbar disk, or is it cervical?

The surgery I had is called a Discectomy and involved the disk between lumbar 3-4, low in my back. Once they began the surgery they noticed that quite a bit more was damaged than first originally diagnosed. I was aware of the fact that it would take 6-8 weeks to heal from the surgery itself and then another 8-10 months ( perhaps longer) for the nerves and muscles to do the same, but I am still feeling a lot of pressure in my spine and cannot stand, sit, or do much of anything without a great deal of pain. It's a bit disappointing to say the least.

I am so sorry to hear that you still have pain.
I was in a car accident and have back pain. I am hoping it will go away.

I'm so happy for you! My Dad tried that, but it didn't work for him, they've done something different this last time that really worked.

I know from seeing him in constant pain just how relieved you are:)
