?????? does anyone know how to make an animated avatar??? The person that normally does them does not seem to be responding to my requests. Can anyone help me? Thanks :) |
I think you need to use a certain program so I am not much help in that regard but just hang tight Val is great I am sure she will get back to you as soon as she has a chance did you see how many she does? She also said she usually works on them on her days off which are Sunday or Monday's. |
Here's the thread where you can request one - she must be busy cause she does lots of them - and pretty fast too - http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...320#post143320 I can make them - but she has animated text on hers & I don't know how to do that - hers are awesome - |
I still haven't had one made. I was waiting to get a digital camera so I could take many pictures of better quality, so I can use for the avatar. so, hopefully soon. Villette, or Val . I need your help . |
Well, excuse me but I'm just slightly offended by that. You JUST posted your pictures in the past couple of days....and for your information, your avatar is already half made, on my program at my home computer. I would have/will have (if you still want it that is) it posted by around 10:30 tonight once I get the chance to get home from work at 10:15 and complete the last few edits on it so it's ready. I am a perfectionist and do not post avatars until I've made them to my standards. But if that isn't fast enough for you, by all means let me know because I have other avatars to make after yours. |
I'll add that since I make them too - Mine are just simple avatars...but I know how time consuming they can be to make - FUN - but they do take some time - With editing....resizing, sharpening, lightening, cropping faces or backgrounds out... and finding just the right way to show a very tiny pic ...it takes a good eye and some work - THEN - you test it to see if it works right - and if we don't like something - you go back and do it over - and Val does animated TEXT on top of all that...She does some awesome avatars - It's WELL worth the wait - |
i wasnt trying to offend you at all. I posted my pictures the from the very first thread of yours a couple weeks ago and private message you twice but heard no response so i thought maybe you were too busy! I would very much appreciate your help.. I hope their are no hard feelings.. that was not my intention at all! I know that you are good at them and that it why i originally had ask you if the first place.. sorry about the miscommunication. |
awwww....it does sound like a miscommunication - I can't wait to see it - I bet it turns out really nice. :D |
you'll be happy with the wait..I just got mine a few days ago and I love it! |

Tonia, A great avatar! |
But how do you guys do it?? Is it a special program you have on your computer?? Or this there some website that will show you how to make them?? |
There are no hard feelings....and I hate to sound mean because I am not mad...but considering that when I read this post I'd just returned from my dinner break at home which I spent 25 minutes on your very avatar.....makes me feel unappreciated...because I do these for you as a service to everyone out of the goodness of my heart. (Though I do accept donations ;)) I've had a big rush of avatars to do this week too.....which I have every intention of finishing them all from now until my days off which are Sundays and Mondays. During the week, I'm a full-time newswriter and I've been putting in overtime this past week....it's been a busy news-week! To be honest, working on your avatars during my days off will be a welcome change to listening to the police scanner and writing last minute stories and getting fussed at by my editors....agh....I'm soooo ready for the weekend. Saturdays are usually pretty quiet which I need b/c I still have smaller as-space-available stories to work on from this week. Bah. Sorry if my stress carries over into this, I promise I'll finish your avatar tonight and post it around 10:30-11 p.m. |
I believe most use Photoshop for the graphic manipulation and image ready animates it...they are high end graphic programs...I have it, my husband uses it but he took too damn long so I just asked elsewhere...I know just a tiny bit of photoshop but haven't used image ready. If you like what you get throw a few bucks her way to show appreciation, I did! My husband does the graphics for the website I maintain for a rock band so I know it's time consuming! |
thank you so much! I appreciate all that you have done for everyone (myself included)and know that people do have other lives other than yorkietalk( alot of us would disagree). No worries at all about anything and thank you for posting my babies! Dont worry about finishing mine tonight.. sounds like you have had a long past couple of weeks and you probably need some rest! thanks again :) Much appreciated ~Sara |

For the animation, I use solely ImageReady CS and to be honest I don't think it's all that hard. It's a complicated process that once you memorize, it's the same every time. Kinda like making a movie. Every movie is different but the process is the same. My animations have frames, every time you see a movement in your avatar it's a different frame. Some avatars on here have taken me over an hour! It all depends on how many characters I use for the name and how many pictures it takes to reach the set YT byte (graphics) limit. Now I'm making it sound more complicated than it is. I love learning, though....and it's rewarding to me to see everyone enjoying their avatar so much, for me knowing I made it and help people enjoy YT as much as I do. :) I think we all enjoy showing off our babies and if we have a fun avatar, it's a way to show off our baby in every single post we make on here, and that's sooo neat. I found a decent tutorial on how to make small animations, if you have the program and would like to learn. Feel free to PM me. |
To add to this for beginners ..there's a program called ULEAD Gif Animator - it has a free download trial - and in using that - you can get basics to learn how to animate - that's how I learned - then I moved to Photoshop Elements 2 - and next...I'm going to tackle Photoshop 6 which HAS Image Ready that Val talked about. you DO have to know how to crop and edit pictures before you even start with the avatars ...because you want as much detail to show in the 75 pixel width of the picture (about 1") |
Thanks Val & Villette for those beginning starter lessons. I am a computer KLUTZ! I think I'll let you gals help me with my avatar. Now, that I have a new camera(hopefully I can work it and load it on the laptop), all I need is to take some pictures of General Patton. How many pics will I need? |
Allright, allright, lol after all the drama, the "long-awaited" avatar has been posted, LOL! It's in the Fun and Toys avatar thread, should be the last one as of now, but not for long b/c I think I'm going to try to get another one done tonight. I doubt I can outdo myself...that one turned out really cute I think!!!! |
Great job Val!!! That is adorable!!!! |
The General sends his salute for a great avatar. Now, if only his mommy would hurry up and take pics. Maybe I can get in line for one too. Great job Val! |

I think maybe I could find some military insignias and put them on his avatar...how cute would that be, right? |
That would be great General! I'll see if my mommy can get some pics of myself soon. |
Oh, I want a Marine Corps one on mine. She is a military brat anyway. |
