Why does painting have to be so HARD? I'm telling you.. it is soooooooooo hard to pick a nice neutral color that will go with everything.. I am about to give up.... Why does it have to be soo darn hard? I have gone to so many different brands of paint from behr, to ralph lauren to gilden etc ... and they look great in the pics and in the paper but then you put it on your wall and its soo different!!! Anyone ever had this problem or am I just broken...:( |
Paint always looks different for many reasons.... One of themain reasons I have noticed is the way the sun comes into the room...... I found a great paint company, ICI Paint. Great paint, and I hired a professional painter.... I used a color called Europeon White (creamish) and accented with a color called Camel Coat. I love it and it is very easy to live with, I highly recommend easy colors on the color palet... |
Cindy you are not the only one. My sister and her daughter were trying to find the perfect color for a teen changing from purple/green room to a neutral room this last weekend. They went through 5 gal of behr and RL paint until they found the perfect combo for her. The only good thing is that I get all of my sister's rejects and they usually work great in my house. |

Sometimes it's not just the color, but the FINISH of the paint (flat, eggshell, semi-gloss, high-gloss, etc.) that can be off. If you totally want to change the look without a total re-paint, I suggest putting some kind of faux finish over top of it. There are so many techniques you can use and they're SO helpful at Home Depot with suggestions. Much easier than starting from scratch. I  to paint:D I need to do my bathroom again, the tile guy that redid my shower ripped up my walls a bit, so I'll be at it again:laugh: |

lol... I like the after effect not the job itself... tell you girls what.. this color we have right now.. makes our house look ALOT bigger..... |
I darn near killed myself painting three big rooms in a row last year. The colour is Desert Sand. I wasn't sure of it from the minute I started to put it on the walls. But, I decided to keep going. (I had purchased all the paint anyways) It is a very funny colour, as some times it is a sand colour, and other times, it is green. It changes with the light. Anyways, I have decided I do not like it, and just hope I have it in me to repaint the rooms again. I know what you mean about trying to make a decision, and just hoping you've hit on the right colour. Janelles |
My mom paints a lot and this is what she told me... when you pick a color for your wall, go 2 shades lighter (on the paint sample slip) and you get the color on your walls that you really want. Most of the time we pick a color that we love and then put it on the walls and its too dark, but if you stay in the same shade but go up 2 shades lighter, your walls will actually look the color that you want. |
funny ... I WANT my color darker ... but just a shade ... not much..lol |
ughh I hate painting |
