Various reasons. Temperament mostly. I have experience with ALL those dogs (not all personally owned, but owned by friends, co-workers, family, etc.). I'm pretty picky about dog breeds.

They have such sweet personalities and are so smart! Big cuddle bugs! How did you first learn about them?

Yes, I can see how there would be lots of scammers because they have a high price tag and each one looks so different they could probably pass almost anything off as "mi-ki".

We saw one at a basketball tournament for our daughter. The lady was at the registration table and had her dog with her. That dog's personality stuck out like a non-sore, but BIG, thumb. Beyond just being real cute, he was absolutely charming. So we started talking to her about the breed. Their personality is very distinct. Every time we went out to the lobby, both my husband and I just kept being drawn back to that dog. She said that wasn't unusual. And then we just kept talking about him after that day....... 3 pc's later, I still have all my internet bookmarks on Mi-Ki's saved ;)

But you're right, that's the problem, they each look so different that people were (are?) trying to pass off different breeds and mixes as a Mi-Ki.

We have a Maltese and Jack Russell (Parsons). The Maltese is more crazy than the JRT. Our JRT likes to bask in the sun.

Oh and Shih Tzu's are the most loveable dogs in the world. They will sit on your lap all day long.

Agreed! I have the best ends of the spectrum with a Yorkie and a Shih Tzu.
