Prayers again for me
 

As everyone knows I had major back surgery two weeks ago. I had the staples and stiches out last Wednesday. I noticed the site where they have my implant (right Hip) was all red and sore an swollen. There is a 5 inch incision there and another 6 inch in the middle of my back. Anyway before I had the staples etc out I had the doctor to look at it. Well, He said I had a b bad bacterial infection in the site. I am on high antibiotics and he lanced it to help it drain. YUK! it hurt too! Well I go back Monday to have it check again. I take my medicine like a good girl but it don't seem to be getting any better. Its still very hot and swollen and red.. in fact I think it looks redder. I was running a temperature yesterday ( 101.2 ) all day. I felt crappy and slept most of the day away. The doctor said if no better I will have to have I.V. but in to get antibiotics that way. I am scared.:eek: I am so scared of staph infections. The way My luck as been the last two years I don't want this. Please pray that it will get better. So far the Spinal Implant is helping with the pain in my legs and back, otherwise it will have to come back and Then I have to get a more evasive surgrery. Please pray... :hands: I know The power of :love: and YT sure has it. IT works for me! Thanks so much YT Friends!

Just prayed for you. Prayer does make a difference. I had back surgery in Nov. and I can certainly sympathize. I had my 4th disc removed and I have total nerve damage in my left leg. The doctor said my bones are also shifting. I know the pain you are going through and alot of times no one understands until they go through it. I do think that doctor should have gotten right on that when you were red and swollen. Don't let it go on if you think something is wrong because that does not sound good. Better safe than sorry. When is he planning to do the iv? I think the sooner the better, since oral ant. are not seeming to help. Maybe the iv ant. will kick its butt and get rid of it sooner! You poor girl!

Back pain is so debilitating ... I am so sorry to hear you have to go through this even.

Brenda, I am soooo sorry you are having to go through this ... been there, done that 3X! Like V said, the surgery itself is bad enough ... but infection on top of that? I will be praying for your recovery ... God bless you!

Brenda - is the device implanted like an external TENS unit? My sister has had the surgery twice for RSD - once for the implant in her hip for the legs and the last time at the brain stem for her upper body. Both surgeries were done at the Cleveland Clinic.

I hope the infection goes away soon. Have you tried warm compresses? I'm also thinking that perhaps a baking soda paste might draw some of the infection out. Sending more prayers your way...

Gosh Brenda, I hope they can get htis Staph infection under control,it can be a scarey thing. I will keep you in my T&P.

I had the external Spinal Stimulator Implant last December. It really help with the pain and numbness in my legs. So they took it out after 5days an now they did the internal Implant January 30th. The doctor said I have so much arthritis and spurs he had a hard time getting the little contacts in the spine. HE had to take part of a bone out to get it in. He also took two disk out and fused them. He said my back was like an 90 year old, in fact he said I seen 90 year olds with better backs than you. That totally devistated me. I am not ready to be old! I am 53 years old, an my mind was still like a 20 year old. I always been active in volunteering and worked sometimes 12 hours a day. I am a CPA an my Husband is too. This is our busy season. I can't work because of the sitting and standing and bending a lot.That really bothers me alot also. He is running our office by himself. I try to do some stuff at home but I can't sit long and Plus the medications that I am on affects my memory an makes so tired and sleepy. I have so much neuropathy in my legs they go numb and hurt so much. I am a total mess really. I got disability now but it took me two years to get myself to File for it. I didn't want to cross that line and be disabled. To me that meant I WAS disabled if I filed for it. I wasn't ready.. well, I had to since I couldn't work. I feel so bad for my husband having to work so hard and long hours. We have a grandson in college now to be a Tax accountant.. he is helping my husband to get some "hands On experince in being one. He is smart an doing great. That helps me a little. I got disability the first try and only took me 3 mths which surprised everyone. Usually your denied the first time,so that made me finally accept I an Disabled. (Sorry for the long story everyone) but I wanted to tell you what is wrong with me. I also have Fibermyalgia. I am trying to handle that also. I have my right knee replaced twice within 8 years, My left has had 3 surgeries, an now it needs to be replace also soon.. Its bad and bone on bone, I also have a Large bakers cyst behind it, it has to be removed also. So there are so many things.. I try to keep a positve attitude. Now this infection has me down. Its one thing or other. So keep the prayers going! I really need them! Thanks Jodie for praying for me an the beautiful dresses and pajama's you have made for my babies!

I have had many surgeries (not like this one though, ouch!) and have found that a diet high in protein and lots of veggies helped me to heal faster. Just a suggestion;)
