Any Teen Texas Parents? Hey guys in Texas, do you know of anyone that has just got their driving permit? Anything we should expect? My niece turned 15 in December and is dying to get her permit. Any clues on the test? When I was in school there were 3 or 4 test that they choose from. She has the book and has been studying it. She already drives with me. Ive been letting her drive since she was 13 around town (its small). Now we want to be legal since she is turning 16 soon! Also, on txdot it says a grandparent or parent has to teach drivers ed. Now that really sucks because I am her Aunt... why am I not considered a viable candidate to teach such thing?? That makes no sense to me! |
Anyone? |
I do not know anyone that is working on a permit now or in the recent past....sorry! But when I turned 16 my dad was the one that completed the driver's ed course with me.....and we got that course information from the state for a fee. (At that time you had to buy your textbook from the state.) I know others that took a driver's ed course at a private driving school. Here is the link to the program information: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/adminis...renttaught.htm I would definately contact them and ask why you, as aunt, can not be the instructor.....and explain your particular situation. |
It was several years ago for my two boys, but I would definitely recommend the driving school route. It really is worth every penny. I don't know why you couldn't do the instruction as her aunt with her parents' permission. I would call and ask about that. By the way, what a wonderful aunt you are! :D |
