Sad news in St. Louis, MO
 
A shooting in at a Kirkwood City council meeting! I did not catch it real well, but I think they said 7 dead!I am trying to find out more- my sister has friends in Kirkwood! This is bad!

Where is Kirkwood in relation to St Louis? My daughter goes to college in St Louis. A city counceil meeting? How horrible. Those people will be in my prayers.

Well, it is south of University City- Maybe down by Hazelwood Area- I get lost very far from my sister's!

She goes to University of Missouri - St Louis. I just hate to think that there was an unstable person anywhere near her (of course my other daughter goes to college in downtown Chicago, so I have to worry about her too!).

I found the article - not much detail, but apparently the gunman was trying to shoot the mayor. How awful to think that those people weren't even safe in a city council meeting!!

Those poor people.

it was breaking news here in Iowa when the news started tonight - that & the horrid fire in Savannah.

They said Kirkwood is a suburb.

I know how horrid it is to worry about your daughter. Mine is in her 1st yr in Nashville -- but, one of the schools she applied to & we really liked - was Union University in Jackson, Tenn. that was destroyed by the tornadoes this week. School there is shut down for weeks - they have like 3,500 students & 40%of their dorms are gone & another 40% damaged. Only one building on the campus didn't receive some type of damage. Of course there were tornado sirens going off in Nashville too -- being 11 1/2 hrs away - it would be hard to get there quickly - especially with the snow storm we got hit with.

Oh my - in addition to those poor kids being in danger, my hearts go out to the families who had to worry about their kids!! The weather has just been unbelievable this winter. And to think that your daughter could have been there!! :( Last year, UMSL had the gym roof torn off in the St Louis tornados. It just seems like tornados used to stay more in the non-metropolitan areas. Even tornados are getting more brazen and dangerous in this day and age.

I have family in Kirkwood. They were friends with 2 of the men that were killed. :(
