Which is better? I have been watching what I eat and find it hard sometimes... Anyway, I have been trying to find a good yogurt...with live/active cultures, low carbs in low in sugar --- which most yogurts are pretty high in sugar! I have tried and liked Dannon Light & Fit smoothie It is sweetened w/ Splenda though and has a sweet taste to it. Calories 60 Carbs 4g and Sugar 3g DanActive Immunity Drink 80 calories and 14grams of sugar (no artificial sweetners) Blue Bunny Light - no sugar added 50 calories 5 grams of sugar Sweetened w/ Sucralose Are any of those sweetners good for you? Or should I stick w/ the one that is not sweetened w/ artificial sweetners? THANKS!! :love-hug1 |
Personally, I would go for the lower-cal. But that's just me. I dont eat enough artificial sweetners to harm me. I think it's all in moderation. If you drink tons of diet drinks, and use splenda on everything you eat, then I think it's a different story. There are some people who prefer natural sugars, even if they are higher. Its just like the difference between fat free foods and regular foods. |

I don't use much sweetener either so once in a while using Splenda won't be too bad. Now - if you really want to do it healthy - go to your store and buy the Greek yogurt called Fage in plain and then add a tablespoon of no sugar jam (you can get both of these at a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods). I personally can't eat the Fage but a lot of people do..it's just personal taste. |

You can now find the Fage at most grocery stores now. It's in a larger container (white w/blue label). It's thicker than most yogurts and unsweetened. For me even adding the no sugar organic jams I just couldn't do it....I can't even do cottage cheese and I think that's what it reminds me of..just that thicker taste in the mouth. Others love, love it...try it mixed with something it won't cost you much and you might be one of the ones that enjoy it...I wish I did.:( |
I would go with something like Stonyfield Organic...It does not use any artificial sweeteners, from what I have seen, it's organic, and they sell fat free and low fat...It contains several different kinds of live/active cultures. This one would be at the top of my list... |
If It Is The Probiotics You Want You Can Get Those In A Capsule..no Calories! Also You Could Try Kefir If You Have Never Heard Of It ..give It A Search. I Get It At My Normal Grocery Store By All The Stoneyfield Stuff. It Can Also Be Found In A Health Food Store. |
Thanks everyone...you have been a big help! |

Best of luck to you, stay healthy! |
I spent probably 15 mins one day in the store trying to figureout which yogurt was best. I finally choose "Yo Baby" which is made for babies, but its all natural, organic. Its good too. |

We tried the Yo Baby and none of us liked it...I don't know why, I can't remember. |

The doctor recommended activa for me. :) |
the problem with a lot of products out there is that they are marketed as "health" products because they are low in fat or dont have sugar, but the chemicals that are used in them to make them sugar freee or low in fat can be far worse for your health. our bodies are "hard wired" to be able to process diets that we, as humans, ate hundresd of thousands of years ago. our bodies dont know how to properly process "modified milk ingredients" (what does that even mean..modified? how??) "artaficial colour" or any other chemicals in these producs. if i do buy processed products, i usually look for the least amount of ingredients as possible and make sure you can pronounce and understand what each ingedient is. also be carful for other sugars such as any ingredient ending in "ose" (glucose, fruictose..etc) as those are all a form of sugar. i would actually chose to eat sugar over artificial sweetners as your body at least knows how to process it better, but if you are doing a low sugar diet, i would choose a natural yogurt with no sugar or artaficial sweetner at all. what i usually do is take plain, natural organic yogurt and blend it with fresh fruit to make my own fruit yogurt. or i will mix frozen fruit with a little bit of yogurt and milk to make a "smooty for breakfast. a trick to make it sweeter is to use a little pinapple or even a banana in the mix! yum!! |
oh, and i also do suppliment with probiotic pills too. i have them every night before i go to bed, or with every meal. (depending if i forget or not  ) and it really does help with digestion and overall gut health |
Thanks Alana!! You are always full of helpful thoughts and advice! |
Ok so I got Fage, they sell it nearby. The only problem is they have 0%, 5% and total. Obviously the 0% is best for you but I haven't tasted it. Since i never tasted Fage i bought the total and it taste soooo good with the strawberry. Alone it taste like sourcream or something, yucky lol but i bought the one with strawberry on the side and dip it in there and its sooo good. They only sell that with total so i thought to buy the 0% and dip it in the strawberry. The strawberry dip has sugar in it ofcourse but its better overall than those other yogurts. Oh i also bought dannon immunity drinks, they're soo good, but theres so many choices at the supermarket that i didnt know what else to get. |
