Should I go to the DR? So this morning at like 3:00am Benji wanted to go outside. After I let him out I went potty and got back into bed. Well about 5 minutes later, I get a sharp pain in my belly about an inch below my belly button. It was a horrible pain and it lasted for like an hour. Pat wanted to take me to the emergency room but I wasn't sure if it was just gas or whatever. I finally fell back to sleep. When I woke this morning the pain was still there but not half as bad. It seems like it is slowly going away but it has moved to my right side. I am not sure if I should go to the Dr's or not. I am always afraid that there isn't anything really wrong with me and I just wasted my money. Has anyone else had this experience? |
Are you running a fever? Even a low-grade one? If you are then, do not pass go, do not collect $200 go straight to the doctor. If you are pregnant or think you MIGHT be pregnant, go to the doctor right away. If there is no fever and the pain continues, I would still make an appointment. Hope you're feeling better very soon. |
I'm like you...never wanting to go to dr. 'cause it's probably nothing. I have learned over the years....better safe than sorry. Go get it checked out. |
Are you pregnant? If yes then call to see if the dr thinks you chlould be seen. If not, and the pain is subsiding then I guess I'd wait and see. |
no fever and I am almost positive I am not pregnant (been on the pill). I am thinking if I still have some pain at lunch time I am going to call the dr and see what they say. Thanks for the advice! |
You say it is going to your right side. Watch and see if it goes towards your back lower sides. It could be your kidney's (I have the start of Kidney disease from something that was not diagnosis as a child) Your better off going to the doctor - better safe then sorry. When I found out how bad my kidney actually was, I had waited the weekend before I went to the doctor and my body had become so poisoned that they put me in ICU and told my family that they could not guarantee that I would pull through! Keep that in mind - it might be worth sucking it up and going to the Dr. Good luck and keep us posted! |
Get it checked just to be safe. I had pains like you're describing and it was an ovarian cyst. |
I've had pains like what you are describing lots of times before....most times, the doctor says that it was gas pain from IBS (that pain will sometimes double me over in pain) and other times, from a cyst..which most cysts will cause you to have dirrehea after the pain. |
It also can be appendcitis When my Dd had this, the pain started around his navel. Usually when it goes to the right side and then stops it could have bursted. SO GET THEE TO A DOCTOR NOW. Sorry didn't mean to shout.:( |
Well I called my doctor a little bit ago and explained my symptoms and they said they can't get me in until tomorrow. So I have a 1:30 appt. I was thinking of calling my OBGYN but wasn't sure if it was something that he could handle or whatever. |
Sounds like it could be early appendicitis! Check out this website - http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/a...citis-symptoms Here is a quote from the site: "Many people feel the first pain near the belly button. Then it moves to the lower right side of the belly." Isn't that what you described??? Go see a doctor! If you can't get in go to the ER. One of the things they do to test for appendicitis (besides bloodwork, etc.) is to press on your belly and then let go. If it hurts more when they let go quickly (quit pressing) then it could be appendicitis. |
Here is an explanation of the test. Have someone try it on you. Rebound Tenderness This is a test for peritoneal irritation. ]Warn the patient what you are about to do. Press deeply on the abdomen with your hand. After a moment, quickly release pressure. If it hurts more when you release, the patient has rebound tenderness. http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddise.../appendicitis/ |

well it hurt the whole time so I don't know if that is what it is.... |
I am so sorry that you are not feeling well and in my experience I have learned, sometimes the hard way, that pain is your body telling you something is wrong and you must have it checked out and as a previous poster mention .. it is better to be safe than sorry. Good luck and please keep us posted. |
