Anyone married and still do date nights? What do you all do (movies, dinner, quiet night at home, etc)? Where do you go, if you go anywhere at all? My husband and I used to do "suprise night" once a month....this could be anything....a trip somewhere alone or with our daughter, small gifts (for no reason), etc. Just fun things that reminded each other that we are still in love and care for each other very much...even if sometimes things get too busy are stressful. --Because we use to go out every Friday night (either alone or with friends or with our daughter)....just something fun! Anyway, those nights stopped awhile back...I guess because we have gotten too busy and such.......but since I haven't been feeling much like myself lately  DH surprised me w/ a night out last night (since our daughter was away for the weekend). It was WONDERFUL!!! I am the type of person that is a "giver", so I just can't imagine the thought of people spending money on me for anything....AND I am a practical person, meaning, I would rather have something for the family then flowers or going to the movies. I'm just ODD I guess! AND I am also a big family person....we have only spent two anniversaries alone...the rest have been trips w/ our daughter or family! --all my choice, of course! So........just a reminder to you all...........make time for yourselves AND your spouses too! No matter how little the thought is...it is a wonderful thought! ((Okay....just me thinking out loud again)) hee, hee:rolleyes: |
What a wonderful post. I think we get so distracted in our lifes that we forget how important little things can be. Great post! |
You know my DH and I have been together 5 years, married since June and we definitely don't do those things and I miss it. I was just thinking the other day how nice it would be to get/give something small -- even a card or little note just out of the blue. Maybe if I start, he will catch on ;) Great post Jenn! |

 Jenn that was great surprise! :D With DH being back in school and working full time it doesn't leave much time for "date night" but we do try to do something @ least once a month dinner, a movie @ home, sometime we can only get in a game of GH but at least it's time we get to spend together. I fell like it is very important to our realtionship. :D |
My hubby and I try and go out atleast once a month just the two of us. Then we try to go out one other time during the month w/another couple! |
How sweet for you !!! I agree - make the most out of your time that was a nice story Jenn....I bet that put a big smile on your face :) |

hmmm, my DH and I have been together since March 16th 1974.....never have been apart too much, except when I had to travel for work. We still have our special times. I love him more today then ever, he's a wonderful person, friend, and my confident.... Just yesterday when he was napping I made him a special spice cake and tea, he woke with the biggest grin... I told him he was just special :) That is what life is about.... special times make memories. |

We still do date nights and I love it! I am like you Jenn, in that I am a practical person, so flowers are out for me. :) We usually go out to eat or on the rare occasion we'll see a movie. I also enjoy going hiking at the camp where we got married so we do that when the weather is nice. I love when my hubby surprises me with things like that. :) |
My husband brings me a bouquet of flowers almost every week. This week it was pink and white carnations. I love to garden, and he knows how much I miss the flowers in the winter, so this is to cheer me up. In exchange, I will bake him a cake or pie or cookies, which he loves. He just retired, and I am realizing just how precious our time together can be. Not to say that everything has always been wine and roses, we've had our rough patches, but boy, we rode them out, and I am glad. It's so important to keep things interesting and alive. Our little Yorkies sure help to keep us laughing. Janelles |
We still have date nights. It used to be once a week, but with things being hectic it's usually once or twice a month, sometimes more. We like to eat out, go to movies, take a trip, go window shopping, etc. |
that is wonderful :) thanks for sharing :D DH and I have "date night" every friday night. We usually go out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants, maybe go shopping afterward (although we don't always buy stuff) and will usually rent a movie to watch at home. It sounds very routine...but we always love doing it. On the Friday's that my daughter is not with her father, we do stuff with her. we always have fun :D |
I am glad to see that there are still several people who do this! I think it is a great way to reconnect w/ our spouses...even if things are great in the marriage, the hussle of life sometimes puts everything else on hold....so even if it is just a walk in the park or something, it is a great refresher!!! |
I hope that when i am married that me and my husband keep doing date nights, etc. |
